Does that mean it needs to be tripod mounted? To make sure things that aren't moving stays iny focus? Can't be handheld? Otherwise you will have overlaps at the edges?

Sony's explanation of the app is so simplistic.

"....sequence of continuous shots..." am assuming it blends the moving waters to achieve smooth reflection. .
Well , need tripod? Assuming u exposing to the sky at 1/500 shutter speed then u probably can go handheld.. I haven't got the chance to apply actual use yet. . Whereas in typical big stopper application, u will definitely need tripod in order to balance out the ambient light to achieve smooth water look.. hope this helps.

I don't understand.
Yes
The app does not "add" in ND filters,
This is true, it does not "add" in ND filters, it simulates the effect of an ND filter
nor does it drop beyond ISO50.
This is true, it does not drop beyond ISO50, it simulates the effect of ISO50 / low ISO
It is just playing with the settings,
This is true, it plays with the settings
you can also change it yourself in manual mode. Please advise me if it is indeed otherwise.
Yes, it is otherwise. Slow shutter speeds are limited by how low you can set your ISO (50 in the case of A7R), and how much you can stop down the lens (f/16 on my lens). You cannot achieve the same effect by shooting in manual mode. Otherwise, what is the point of the app?
Because it doesn't sound logical to me.
Maybe next time.
You said multiple exposures.
Yes I did.
What do you mean?
I mean it takes multiple exposures.
You mean the app is merging a few frames to achieve the long exposure effect?
Yes!

There is information about the APP here https://www.playmemoriescameraapps.com/portal/usbdetail.php?eid=IS9104-NPIA09014_00-000011
Even a video showing you how to use it if you don't like reading.

yeah the video worked...

I am curious now, how does that affect the sharpness of the picture with all that layering.

Hi syke,
Here's an example. The sharpness is ok for me.

I think the sharpness will be affected if there's any movement.

Thanks for sharing. Does it apply to moving clouds too? Am curious.

Anyone interested in the new kid on the block Mitakon FE 50 f0.95 @ 800USD?

I have just got back from a 11-day trip to Ethiopia. Together with my M240 and M8, I brought along an A7R with an assortment of M and R lenses. The only native FE lens I have is the 55mm f1.8. It is this combo, that impresses me with the IQ. Here are a few images with this combo,

Took it out in the afternoon. . I was wrong.. not possible hand held as app will take multiple exposures.. Some preset takes 64 exposures to be blended. Hence not possible to be handheld... still need to be on tripod...

K. Thanks for the updates.

Interesting to know it can program to take 70 plus shots to stack the image.

More review please!

Don't you think Singapore housing is so much better?
We even have artistic drawings on our HDB blocks.
