love soft background coupled with some dreamy feel

very nice lens and very good photographer
Thanks for the kind words.
Some old lenses tucked away for some time now I have some of my lenses since EPL1 days
Jupiter 9 85mm f2.0 this lens is very nice for portraits as it is soft wide open less PPing needed to get rid of skin details hehehe. Rendering is nice also but colors not as nice as bro Thots Rokkor 58/1.2
I think there is a lot of sample variation for the J9.
Between good ones, there is also the older and newer MC ones.
The old version is often reported as sharp from f2 (or sharper), the later MC ones often reported as soft.
In between are a mix of reports with some users not knowing which version they have, Franken lenses made up of various parts from a few lenses (failed attempts at repair) and poor Russian QC.
I have 2 copies of the J9.
The first one, looks good on the outside, Black MC version (late 70's, early 80's)
It was 'fairy tale' soft at f2 and not good until f4.
My 2nd copy is badly beaten on the outside (old chrome version ).
But its a Franken lens, as some previous owner tried to convert it to K-mount and somehow welded the adapter onto the lens.
But optically its very good.
Sharp from wide open.
I had bought the beaten up lens on purpose, following a tip from some of the knowledgeable folks who have good copies.
"If it looks nice, it was probably too band to be used.
If it was good, it was used a lot (and worn)"
