so interesting.

over the past 48 hours, i bought 3 slrs.... all crazy
cheap (like under 50 usd with lens) and all m42.
the reason was because i kanna hooked on CZJ lens,
and the cheapest CZJ lens that
can be gotten are on the M42 mounts.

we are crazy over Sonnars here in this board, and some
are crazy over planars. How many of us have ever heard
of Flektogon (wide angled) or Biotar (old fast lens) or
even Pancolar (crazy sharp 50mm)? These were from
the eastern european and original Carl Zeiss plant in Jena.

It was rumored that the Flextogon was so good that
the western side of Carl Zeiss copied it to become
Distagon.

These CSJ lens still cost around 100 - 150 usd each but
is still cheap compared to the Leica mount. Too
bad these are mainly m42 mount for SLR, fitted with
a adapter, it is not range finder coupled on the leica.

i used to have a czj biotar 58/2 in m42 mount, wasn't expensive at all, some us$50 i think...it was a beaten up copy but delivers great! :p

Just that i'd prefer to stick with 1 system for now - m / ltm for film and m43 for digital... (my drycab is already struggling to cope )

Shot with a less commonly use Sonnar, the Hexanon 90mm f2.8:

If you want to try CZJ Eastern Germany lenses...then you must try the Pentacon Six system 190mm f2.8 Sonnar in MF...

Bro, where have u been? I had both Nikkor 50 f1.4 and the Canon 50 f1.5. The Nikkor amazing for close-ups, especially as a portrait lens. However, stop down if you are shooting to infinity. It glows...

Decided to keep the Canon instead as I find it easier to control the glow.

This thread is indeed poisonous, now I must get my hands on a c-sonnar.

Ya very poisinous. Another advantage is zeiss c sonnar 1.5/50 is very compact compared to other 50mm it should be comfotable small walkabout lens

No, there is dodge and burn on this photo, I only boosted the "Clarity" setting in Lightroom.

A few more sonnar shots to keep this thread going.
