hi troyp.... this is the diffuser i am using... it costs php350 here in the philippines, roughly around $12sgd. i'll try a diy diffuser because this one sometimes leaves white marks on the subject especially in macro...

Are you sure that's a caterpillar?
Looks like a cross between a spitfire and a plant hopper (maybe some funny business happening there!).
