i remember emailing them about architecture shots..this was the reply..

1. Architecture/Buildings - Outdoor or indoor shots are both acceptable.
2. Nature - For nature, insects may be included as long as they are
photographed in their natural form, i.e., not dead or stuffed and exhibited.
3. Night scene - Panoramic images are allowed as long as the entire print fits
the dimension of 8x10 inches or 8x12 inches.

FYI

"Yes, it is possible for you to submit images in the square format. The dimensions could be between 8x8 inches and 10x10 inches." - Reply from SYPA committee when I asked if pics submitted can be in square format.
Really? Thanks!
That means i can print in either 8R or S8R then cut off the border right?

damn.. waste 30 bucks... e pictures turned out too dark.. so diff fr wad i see on the com.. any gd photo labs to recommend?

Is your monitor calibrated in the first place? If it's really the lab's fault, maybe you would like to try Kim Tian @ Hong Lim Complex. I usually print there. I'm sure there are many other labs like Beautiful Memories, Grace, etc that others would recommend.

its not calibrated.. but the diff is really big man..hong lim complex? isit at bugis?

Personally, I had mine printed at Miao Laan, which is at Bukit Batok. Check out this link:

http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=144837

My monitor was not callibrated either. Funnily enough, I fixed the images till they looked good on my screen before bringing it for printing. At the printing center itself they did further correction, not knowing that I had already corrected my images. Still everything turned out perfect. If your monitor is not callibrated, not all is lost. At the printing shop, load the images up on their monitor and ask for their advice before printing. They may even be able to correct the images for you according to their own printer and ensure a more pleasing result.

It's at chinatown. Colours is really a matter of preference. Maybe you can sit down beside them and choose the colours you want if you are printing a small amount.

How do I make sure what I see is what I get on print?

edit: finally got my response from SYPA..

"You may choose to leave the white borders on the print or cut them. However,
should you feel that your prints will look better with black borders, you may
wish to cut out the white borders and paste them onto slightly larger black
mounting boards to form a black border all round. "

So err, is it still a good idea to cut the irritating white borders? or just leave them on...

Ok, finally a reply.

They said landscapes are under nature.
Looks like i have to develope again. :(
