you can get most of the materials at artfriend.

IIRC, one black A3 board was around $1.20, while the 3M photo spray mount was about $18.55

 I didn't want to use mounting spray, seeing how messy it was. And the can I borrowed somehow didn't work too well. In the end I simply used double-sided tape...gets rid of the problem with spraying and aerosols.

Think i'm giving this a pass as well. Been having a very very bad run with my photos recently. Been feeling so bad about them that it breaks me down so badly. Lack of soul and meaning in the photos. All the best to all other participants of this year's SYPA. Good luck!

Neither have I been having a good run with mine, but we can always submit older photos that are still considered as passable.

understandable.. i hope that the ones im gonna print don't screw up when i spray the photo mount on it, because from past experience if you misalign it can say good bye to the image  must be extra careful this time!

Have some questions abt the developing of 8R & S8R prints.

For 3:2 images,if i don't want them to crop then what size should i print?
Same for 3:4 images...

I'm quite confused abt the cropping issue.

Can someone enlighten me? Thank you!

Pretty sure that you can print 3:2 images without any cropping (and without any borders) on an S8R. However I am not so sure about the 3:4 images. There's a lot of gurus here about the printing issues...just hoping someone can advise on this.

Any idea which category to put landscape and scenery shots in?

Was quite suprised there's no such category.

i'd email them to confirm... i wish there was a 'surreal' category just like deviantart ...

Thanks fWord!
Cuz my d70s images are in 3:2 while my a95 images are 3:4 so i dunno what size to print..haha.

isnt it 4:3 for digital camera's? haha. i'll be printing most of my images tom..wish me luck they'll turn out alright

Is it possible to submit square images?

i thought so too until i calculated the image ratio.
My d70s native resolution is 3008 x 2000; ratio=3:2
whereas for a95,resolution is 2592 x 1944; ratio=4:3

weird right?

in the end i decided to crop both 8" x 10" & 8" x 12",no matter what resolution the original is in.
so i got a mixture of 8R & S8R prints lo..haha
as long as the image size is right, printing 8R or S8R shouldn't have any cropping right?

wanted to submit 1 square image too but dunno how to crop to the stipulated size..haiz..

Any extremely good photo developing shops to recommend?

Like those which pro photographers patronise?

hey is anyone sending the final prints on saturday?

Can this type of shots be put under architcture, I wonder?

The rules didn't mention anything against having borders. A border of less than 1cm at all 4 sides should be alright. Grace Digital lab advised me to print with borders upon learning I was submitting photos to PSS.

all four sides? i means was the pictures i printed out, on the left/right[horizonal shots] and for the top/bottom[vertical] shots, some of them has the white border, because for one of the shots cropped abit and i suspect the border is there because the image couldn't fill the entire S8R, i also suspect cuz its in 3:2 and i printed in S8R..

now the dilemma is whether should i cut the white borders or leave it there.abit weird for the white border to be there though.

FYI

"Yes, it is possible for you to submit images in the square format. The dimensions could be between 8x8 inches and 10x10 inches." - Reply from SYPA committee when I asked if pics submitted can be in square format.

No one reply to my qns...
