Unfortunately it was high tide, we didn manage to waddle out the shore. Many thanks to lkkang for suggesting the tree spot! There was another guy in the pic shooting along the shore. I think it will probably look right with cropping to the centre but i just love more trees and a wider perspective

haha, no worries! HDB flats almost the same everywhere :-)

Nice pictures you have here!

Sometimes we tend to take things around us for granted, & never see it with the different perspectives you have here. Good!

Haven got much time to shoot other than the last NZ trip, even more tied up with work than ever. which might not be a bad thing

Here goes an old pano taken in Chinatown quite some time back on a cloudy evening :)

While i have taken a few shots of the Bay Sands hotel prior to completion, this was the first time I grabbed it in its completion

Best Helix shot I have seen yet.

Hi thanks em. Actually the helix n bay sands area has been shot to clinical perfection by so many forumers lead by Kit that I doubt I can value add much. The only impetus for me doing the shot was the couple that happened to be having their photoshoot nearby, softening the mood a little.

Huh? No lah..... no perfection.

The Helix is extremely difficult to photograph. The only photo I have of it is pretty similar to yours. Not really happy with mine but am not able to find a better angle. The composition of buildings and structures around that area is not "photographer-friendly" I gathered. In fact, I'm not liking it from an architectural and engineering point of view either. Thought they blew up on another wonderful opportunity throwing a heap of shiny metal onto the location.

i cant say much, all this picture make me cant say anything beside excellent work ... ^ _ ^

Thanks for giving ur thoughts on it. I never really was a fan of the futuristic looking Helix bridge either. Agree that is alot of unsynchronised clutter in the Marina area that makes photography difficult.

A shoot under haze wih an old lens. Might not be apparent in smaller sizes but the recent haze issue created a layer of haziness around the highlights. Any thicker it is going to be like HK.

wow, u r making breakthroughs, making it to near to eikin level.... he was an extremely talented photographer and moderator who was no longer active here. but u might probably still know him through his pics in the sticky thread of punggol.

the vantages u have in the urban jungle beats those scenaries u shoot, which tend to be flatter (something like say #137). all your past ones are good, but this and the firework shot are the awesome pieces. for the above, i have some thoughts after posting this message upon some scrutiny. these might be personal preferences that u may feel otherwise.

- lightening the bottom left to let some details to the left of the white lorry stands out.
- dimming the vermilion red in the bottom right. it can be a focus but since u got the dark red crane already, and the bright red part being too close to the edge, might want to suppress it. however, i can also understand why if u like it so.
- making the white words or bars on the crane even whiter and contrasty to make the subject of focus even more eye catching.

ok, in fact, this piece reminds me of the eikiness he had in his pictures. the above have much of the palette that he goes by. distinctive traits.
