rear mount filters have been around for some time already (canon 300 2.8 and longer lenses all use rear mount filters)

and why is this in the canon subforum?

35 lbs or 15.9 kg

Enough said.

last report I see has it weighed in at 35lbs. Roughly 15-16kg.

haha. Use it for paparazzi work man. Summer is here and all the celebs will be hitting the beach....

haha seriously i think u will avoid less attention with a point and shoot rather than this monster lens.. heck it can even be a CS challenge carry this lens into any mrt or camera sensitive places and NOT be stopped to ask where are you from and wat u plan to do with that..

point and shoot in a secluded spot where u're persona non grate and previously required to use a 600 f4 and stack converters? Honestly......

this is the new bigma.......bigmama :bsmilie:

from the look, probably the size of the bigmama 300-800 f5.6 or even bigger... therebout..
that would mean at least 8kg :hung:, my guess would be 12kg

Hee... :)

The 50-500mm F4-6.3 was named the Bigma

The 300-800mm F5.6 was named the Sigmonster

It won't be too far off to call this lens (200-500 F2.8) the Godzigma :bsmilie:

or Sigzilla

maybe just OMG!

This one gonna be some 16kg+ I guess. Canon 1200L is 16.6kg. This fat monster is that calibre but also got to zoom. Any guess on cost? I think around the US$20-30K range?

Hm, in the photo the lens hood is mounted. Looks more like a lens barrel with elements removed than a lens hood. Haha.

It even has a LCD to display focal length... quite hi-tech...:)

Woah! Internal zoom perhaps?

Wonder why there was no mention of HSM. Wonder how the AF speed will be like.
