Sigma announces 35mm f/1.4 DG, 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC OS, 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS lenses

The 35mm is really solid, heavy and beautifully constructed like a work of art.. justifying the reason for the word 'ART' being stenciled on the lens body.

It is a really superb prime lens which is capable of being tack-sharp even wide-opened at f/1.4.

Taken with probably the only Sigma-mount 35mm f/1.4 in the whole of Singapore

Unfortunately, this being a Sigma lens, it would most likely suffer from front/back-focussing problems and would require one of the following to get it working perfectly:
(a) a trip to the service centre at e-Centre for calibration
(b) buy a SD1M body to go with the lens and carry out your own calibration using the camera's Micro Focus Adjustment function ;)

Is the nikon mount launched already?

From the Lenstip review summary:
"The Sigma has the best results of all 1.4/35 lenses, tested by us so far in the categories of resolution, distortion, chromatic aberration and coma correction. It also fares very well in the case of astigmatism correction and the autofocus accuracy, being one of the cheapest lenses in this class of equipment."

To me this is the more important observation. Autofocusing speed is secondary as long as it still can autofocus reasonably fast and accurately. No point in getting a lens that autofocus blazingly fast but lags in performance in the other categories.

One funny observation from me... the Sigma 35mm is a HSM lens and so the focusing is extremely quiet. It is in fact so quiet that the service tech at Sigma Marketing almost thought that it was not autofocusing at all when he was checking my lens. He had to look at the movement in the distance scale window during autofocusing to convince himself that the lens was actually working. :)

Really looking forward to this lens..reviews have been very positive..

Wow! Very impressive there! The Nikon equivalent sounds fairly redundant now. Heh.

can AF can liao la.

no need blazing fast. HSM to me is but a bonus.

I would personally prefer for Nikon's to be screw-driven AF so as to cut down additional repair cost in the event that the HSM motor kaput.

ready to buybuybuy!!!
