Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6

I think so. That's why I'm hoping Cokin will do one too.

It's available already ! In UK !
Previously I went to S.L.S at Sg. and nobody nobody have ever head about it

It's use a special filter holder and large filters.
So your P series filters won't fit on the the new large holder.

Those Cokin filters have been out for a long time now, I don't think they're what's being discussed here as they still need a lens with a filter thread on the front.

Hmm I think we still talk about the same thing.
How to use filter without hang it manually, for a lens without a filter thread on the front.

This is the answer : Cokin X Pro.

Yes, I got you the first time. The standard X-Pro adaptors still require a filter thread on the front. The system was designed essentially for ultra wide lenses that had problems with vignetting with smaller filters, rather than to solve issues about lenses without filter threads.

After your insistence I did further digger and apparently there is a "universal adaptor ring... to fit... to lenses with non-standard diameters (or damaged threads)", so apparently it has been adapted for use with lenses without a filter thread.

Bizarrely over here you can get up and running for S$200 at most (holder, and adaptor). It's ridiculously more expensive in America for some reason - that's a first.

Thanks Bro for advice !
I am still looking for a shop selling this holder and the universal adaptor ring. Hopefully can get them in Sg, not more than S$200.

The Lee slip-on filter holder does not require an adaptor ring (costs US$88 at Amazon). Will it be cheaper than the Cokin one?

Is this lens available locally? Wat's the local retail price?

Amazon is selling at US$699 (pre-order). AFAIK, only canon mount is available now. Nikon and other mounts will b available soon, in a few weeks.

From the flickr post earlier, one of the photog seems like a Singaporean. Perhaps, he bought his copy locally :)

If you're interested, make a few calls to the shops.

OP has just one unit, for Canon mount. Selling at $1180. Built feels pretty solid but the rings a bit too stiff for my liking.
;)

this is a very interesting lens. the [flickr] photos look quite nice too

Cathay Photo was $1170, and so were a few of the places downstairs at Sim Lim Square, but the lowest price, with GST, was Orient Photo on Level 6 at Sim Lim (at least it was in my hunt)

Has anyone tried mounting filter on the front/back for this lens?:)

Anyone with the latest prices on this lens?

OP - $1180
John 3:16 - $ 1120

Anyone try DIY a filter holder for thhis lens ?

Wonder the normal square filter will be big enough for it or not .

I gave up with all these filterless lenses already. LOL!
