Sigma 50mm f1.4 - new batch = outstanding performer

Just bought a 30mm f1.4 and a 50mm 1.4 together at Tin Cheung Hong Kong.
Paid 6000 HKD => divide by 5.5 which is around 1100 SGD.
The 30mm 1.4 by itself is 2850 HKG and the 50mm 1.4 is 3150
Comes with 1 year international warranty as well.. :D
Just an info for anyone who wants to buy from Hong Kong

Did a test with the lens..

Still very soft wide open.. but significantly improved when stopped down to f2

My copy is sharp at wide open. You may want to send you lens and camera for AF calibration

omg its sooo nice, i want!!
any1 going to HK?:embrass:

in indonesia its selling for Rp. 4.790.000 (equiv to S$704).

Thinking of getting one too now ..

Hi all,

I experienced random yellow casting on my pictures when used at f/1.4 and 1.6 at indoor lighting condition. What I mean is I didn't get consistant white balance from picture to picture although I was using manual white balance. Some of the areas on the photos will become yellowish randomly.

But stepping down to 1.8 or 2.0 will eliminate the yellow casting.

If you want to test it out, set ur white balance maually, in manual mode, f stop sets at 1.4, set shutter and iso accordingly and fire in continuous burst mode. Compare the series of pictures and check whether outputs are same or different.

Let me know the results and suggestions pls.

Thanks and Regards,

if it's indoor, its probably due to the fluorescent lighting. as you stop down, the shutter speed slows, eliminating that problem. try shooting at 1/200, and at speeds slower than 1/60

you can see the difference

Wow, bro, you just taught me a lesson. Thanks a lot.

Where can I go to read up more about this problem?

Once again, thanks.

Wow the HK pricings are really attractive. Any idea if it's cheaper in JB?

where do i send for calibration ah? thanks!
You can send to Sigma service center here in Singapore. But now they need proof of purchase (receipt + Warranty card).
So make sure you have international warranty card (in case if you bought from HKG).

Hi All,

As compared to Sigma 30mm F1.4 lens, which is the better lens?

Thanks in advance..

Hi guys,

Would like to check, is this 50mm f1.4 able to autofocus on D40?

I am looking to get a 50mm f1.4 but the one which AFs on D40 is really expensive, and I cannot MF...

thanks in advance!

Regards,
xx
