Yes, calibrated at Sigma Svs centre. Focucing is accurate at short distance but not at longer distance. Very good for portrait shoot and bad for landscape/cityscape.

Not sure about this. You might want to bring all your cameras together with the lens for calibration. Btw, you have to call them up first to arrange appointment for calibration.
If you can wait, you better wait, so that after the technician finished calibrating your lens, you can test it on the spot. If you feel it is still not focusing properly, you can tell that to the technician and he will make further adjustment until you're satisfied with it. That's what I did, total I spent 2 hours there. The technician is a nice and patient guy, he will make sure you're satisfied with it before he stopped.

You dun wait there, the desk front will call you back, if there is a prob that the technician can't slove, he will call you & tell you, when you collect it back, he will explain to you in his office & show you the photos he has taken with your cam & lens on his p.c. He is very patient & a very kind man. If there is something that he cannot slove, he will even email to Japan Sigma & ask. This would usually means your cam stays over night at the Sigma agent office... He even wait till late for the Japan side reply. :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Use a focus chart first, can download from the net. can't really tell from the photos.
For those with the a new Sigma 50mm f1.4 and 5Dmk2.
It seems that the lens front focuses at distances below 6m, but focuses perfectly at distances from 6m to infinity.
Using a lens AF adjustment setting of 18backwards, you can get it to focus perfectly from nearfield to distances of up to 3m but distances beyond will then suffer from backfocusing.
I've tested 3 lenses, 2 from one shop and one from another and they share the same problems.
It seems that the AF table for the lens has flawed calibration values.
Those who have sent it in to sigma for re-calibration: does it ensure consistent focusing for both near and far objects?

i got my copy for sony mount. I can say, this is one of the best 50mm lens for full frame. i will not go as far as to say it will beat the 50mm f1.2L, since i have not used it before, but of all the 50mm lenses i have used, which includes the nikon and sony ones, this is the sharpest i have ever come across, even at F1.4.
lucky for me, my copy was sharp out of the box. no problems with AF accuracy.
