Thank god someone created this topic! I purchased my new 30mm on Sunday and got frustrated with it. I'm glad sigma can fix this problem. Booked the appt for tomorrow. Can't wait...

True that you only discuss the bad ones here. haha. The good ones are posting photos in the 30mm gallery.

I got my second copy, better than the 1st one, but not quite fullfill my 100% score. Maybe i dint use it fully and correctly yet?

Anyway, where you got your sigma from?

Got mine from Song Brothers. Booked the appt with them for this morning. Can't wait to start clicking.

where to but the cheapest? how much? used or new it's okay with me. i will use it with 7D. any preference? thanks

Going to get the lens and 7D body from SLRR funan. $715 for the lens

If 715 local set i think so ex. 500+ only for grey set. I think its ok wif me. I no need wty for calibration. Even shop wty is ok wif me. I can also do micro adjustment with 7d

I am planning to get one soon but I do not know if I should get a grey set from DDE or a local set? SWEAT 0_0"""

Will there be complication with buying grey and what is the best and simple way to test?

The outcash for grey set is low with 1yr warty. However local set will give you 2.5 years warranty. You can get ur lens calibrated to ur current body and get it calibrated again in case u upgrade to anew body within the wrty period.

Or you can buy additional 7yr warranty with DDE for a low price…That's what i did...

I have never buy a grey set before so I am a bit paranoid after reading so much mishap of the bad copies...HAHA!
What is your experience with buying at DDE? So you tested different copies before determining which to buy?

I hav tested 4 lenses before I got my set at DD. Its not 100% good but ok. Some of my rejects went well with other users on their camera bodies.
It requires pure luck befeore you can get a lens that works well with your camera body.

So with the "Ok condition", did you do anything to it after that? Calibration?

I am using a 60D which micro-adjustment is unavailable...

Getting bad sets has nothing to do with buying from DDE or any other "grey" shops. It's the manufacturer of the lens. Even buying from an official retailer you also will have this problem with certain brands.
Personally, i only tried one Sigma from DDE and took the one on the spot because it was ok. I have 2x60Ds and both work well with the lens so i didn't have to try more than 1 set. If you are afraid of getting bad sets, just buy Original Nikon or Canon lenses….less chance..Even Tamron or Tokina also has this problem. My tamron also had to send for calibration because it was blur brand new.

Send to sigma for calibration, but need to pay

I'm deciding whether to buy a grey set or a local set for this lens, but there are mixed feelings for both in the previous few pages. So i'm really not sure which to buy. Any inputs? Thanks!
The difference is about 200bucks, which is quite a lot. And also the warranty after repair warranty is only 1 month for local set i think. x/

Price had just went up from $721 to $900+. Looks like sigma had just encourage us to get grey set even paying 150 for calibration it's still cheaper
