Eh, even EF-S lens have crop factor :) If you take an EF 50mm and compare with an EFS lens at 50, it's the same..EF-S doesn't mean no crop factor..it's still there

OH! Sorry about that, just started learning. Haha i was told that the focal length of EF-S lenses were what's on it (30mm = 30mm).
So basically EF-S simply means that it cant be mounted on FF Bodies, but EF lenses are 'bi'? Haha thanks for the correction! :D

Hi all, sorry to ask a noob question, is it that all the sigma 30mm lens, grey or not grey, need calibration? I'm wondering if I should get in HK to save that $200.But If the lens by default needs calibation, it would make sense to get in SG correct? Thanks in advance!

If the grey set from hk cost 500 +, you might well get it from dde. At least is a local shop. Just my 2cent..

yup definitely. Its considered a 48mm on cropped bodies which are portraiture lens. Its fast with f1.4 with the superb background blur (bokeh).

It is ok for portraits, but it is really more of a normal lens. For portraits, you will get better effect with 50 or 85mm on APS-C crop sensors.

I cant agree more.

I had the previous version (matt surface which has famous problem of peeling) and its only sharp at F2 onwards.

The new version (smooth surface) is already sharp at wide opened and already very sharp at F2.

Hi All,

i just gotten my copy from the B&S. I know that this len does encounter front/back focusing problem. I did a test and can anyone help me check if my copy has this issue.

i mounted by camera on a tripod and the angle tilted at 45 degree.

I uses a release trigger to take the shot. Image is in the link below as i am not able to upload to the forum.

I think it's a sharp copy :)

Would like to check if this lens is ok for wedding dinner table photo?

Just got mine from the BnS on Friday, brought it out to the Natsu Matsuri celebrations at Changi Japanese Primary School yesterday :D

I know the following picture is kinda devoid of composition, but it was a lucky capture :p

Might be a little tight IMHO.

Second that. Get a zoom lens for more flexibility.

Absolutely. small pig, if you are going to be the second or third wedding photographer, do consider the Canon 17-55mm. It's a popular choice :)
