Maybe u can chk out prices else where?
Woah! How can the price go up so much in just 1mth?
Fortunately brought mine before it happens.
Or possible is it a typo?
Getting one next month!Don't know grey set or local set. x/
Nice. Haha for me i'd get a local one, rather pay a little bit more for that 'mental-assurance'.. but that's just me XD
Well, that "little" more for this lens isn't that "little" it's about $200+ difference which is about 1/3 more..
Grey set with shop warranty goes for $492 while non-grey sets go for about $800 or less..
Maybe if it were a $2k lens, $200 is a small sum but for something under $500, $200 becomes a big difference for some…If $ wasn't an issue, i'm sure people would rather buy the 35L![]()
Haha. Maybe because I have no experience in buying/testing lens, so for me If I were to get a grey set there is a high chance I'd have to pay the $150 for calibration. So for my case the difference is actually okay for me at $100 +- And the extra $100 paid actually covers an extra calibration pus a little bit of other warranties. Hehe hope that explains why I used 'little'! Haha XD
Btw, do the shops selling grey sets provide calibration? Just wondering, cos if they do, then $500 is actually pretty worth it. Haha cos the only thing I worry most about is the calibration =p

I have just bought the lens from DD last week and really happy to see the lens fit my camera perfectly. I have sharper images but sometimes a miss in focus may occur even the focus indicator is lighted, do not know why. I have asked about the calibration service, it is FOC and may take up to 2-3 weeks as they need to send it back to their agent. BUT do take note that they are not calibrating to your camera body, it is to the default factory setting.
DD will accept the lens for calibration but I find it pointless because they will not take your camera body.
Abit tight on cash cause I need to buy other things, so don't know if the extra $200 is worth it. x/
And remember to check for focusing issues for the lens!
Haha I see. But you seem to have quite a range of lenses so I'd say you know your stuff well enough to get a sharp copy of grey sets. Haha
Yea man, I'll be checking on the focusing mainly. Will be bringing along a test chart and my netbook. That's all I'm gonna bring, with no tripod. That's why I factored in the calibrations costs already when considering grey sets.. Haha =p
Nope, i only have my D7000 with 16-85! Hmm i guess you just have to camp at the shop to test till the lens suits your camera body i guess. ):
But actually if i'm right, grey set is under Sigma 1 year international warranty. Then for Sigma Singapore, the repair cost cover equipment but not service cost. So in fact the calibration is only 80 bucks i think.
