Hey man, i shoot at home and HDB setting don't give me enough space to capture more than 3 ppl in a picture (at least in living room setting). I don't want to buy multiple lens so i find zoom lens would be best for my need. Although this lens is sharp wide open.

ahhh...i see...guess i'm the opposite of you...find my my 17-55 troublesome...guess it's more suited for my travel purposes..thanks for the info. :)

Just got this lens from Artworkfoto for $590, got a sharp copy so no need for calibration.
Amazing sharpness and bokeh, a gem !

Is it a local copy? If yes then it is very cheap and good deal.

Its a grey set.
Micheal told me that i was one of the lucky guy that doesn't need any calibration.

U got lucky, not all lens come sharp out of the box.
Any pictures to share wide open?

Hi all, I'm new to this match-up of camera body of one make and 3rd party lenses, am quite tempted to get a copy of this lens after viewing all the beautiful pictures taken.

Just wondering if one still may end up with bringing the camera and lens to Sigma's for calibration after testing it before purchase?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

if it's a grey/imported set like the ones bought at artworkfoto, calibration would cost around $150. local copy with warranty...no charge. you can read up the previous posts in this thread.

Well, just be prepared to bring in for calibration. Nothing wrong with calibrating it. :)

anyone here tried it with external flash? (SB900) particularly the D90? i haven't tried any 3rd party lenses so I was wondering if i will have any problem with the iTTL?

I have tried external flash on my Tamron lens, the ETTL works fine.

Thanks guys, then ismokeweed79 must be really lucky to get a copy that needs no calibration. I probably should think about whether to get a grey or local set.

i guess you can test like crazy at the shop to make sure the copy is sharp?
and save some pennies for good filters? :)

:bsmilie: I'd luv to do that if those guys do allow it. $150 saved sure can get me a good filter.
