I wish for this lens. Anyone going to HK anytime soon? Also, Adorama.com is selling at less than SGD600 incl. shipping. Quite tempted, but with grey sets, warranty issues and all, is it worth it?

I really love this lens, i.e. Sigma 30mm f1.4. I had been living under the impression that it was a FF lens until when I plug it onto my FX, I realised: ALAMAK! It's DX... Sian half... :bsmilie: hahaha...
Artworkfoto selling grey sets @ $590, warranty with their shop. But i check the last 2 piece a few weeks back but both lenses are bias to front focusing... In the end got local set for $720. $130 for for 2/5 years warranty. It's your call.
Since you are thinking about getting a grey set, must check first since there is this known issue with this lens.
The local sets are good quality? You tried? They let you try it in their shop?
I tk grey or local also got lemon ones lying around... With the amount of focusing issues, i too bought the local set for peace of mind...

Happen to check out this lens at Best Denki today and this lens is priced at SGD950++. WTF? Is Best Denki one of the worst place to shop for electronics or what? Shop here sure kana conned + chopped.

Also to add, if you like to take pics across the dinner table (normal makan 1-1 dining table in restaurants). You can't really use the 50mm as you need to push back the chair/arch back to get the subject in frame.
thanks for the feedback..but if i really were to get 50mm instead of 30mm..that would probaby serve as 'future-proofing', in case i intend to switch to FF..?
Just called up sigma svc centre. It seems like they no longer do calibration for free. Was told to bring all proof of purchase and have to pay 80 bucks for it if I don't have it.
Seems abit inconsistent with what I gathered from this thread.
I just sent in my lense for calibration. The lady clarified the matter with me. She said that if you buy from authorise dealer the calibration will be done free, if not $80. The same applies to both local and overseas purchase. She said a lot of guys have been buying from Tin Cheung camera, it is not an authorised agent. Showed me many other receipts all from Tin Cheung, some buy 10 of the same lense. So they have to charge. I guess when people try to make money of out buying cheaper in Hkg and reselling here, they have no choice but to charge cos they end up with some many more lenses to calibrate. Too bad...
Hi Guys sorry for my noob question. But er, can i use this on my Canon 50D?
any recommendations if i should buy SIgma 30mm 1.4 or 24-70?
