guys im a newbie DLSR user. just bought my canon 40d body + sigma 30mm last night.
the guy on the shop said i need to put filter on my sigma. the cost of the filter is 25 and 45. the latter according to him as UV protection.
do i need one on my lense?
thanks.
u can avoid trips to Sigma SC because u can test the lens before making your purchase.
if u think u hv front/back focus, then try another one.
this one taken at wide open with only resizing done.

is that taken wif your 1d?
yup... vignetting is not so prominent at 1.4, but very visible at f4 and above.
hmmm... can you post an example shot @f4?
thanks.
interesting, so in future, can use on full frame on f/1.4, but just need to crop around 1/1.3X.just to share the vignetting of this lens when used with 1.3x body. all exif intact.
as u can see the vignetting is getting more prominent for aperture of more than f4, and cant be used at f16. cropping will helps to overcome this shortcoming, but hey why use f1.4 lens to shoot at f16? if i remember correctly, u hv this lens rite?

subject to the shooter preference, for in door with limited space, 30mm is better. 50mm will give better bokeh. 30mm is wider and can shoot portrait with blur scenery.sorry newbie here. quick question. would this lens or the new 50mm f/1.4 be better for portraits?
