thats quite a good price, care to share where you got it from?
Got it from OP...export set 1 year warranty by them direct.....however they dont cover warranty for wrong focus so have to test before buying...they only cover malfunction.
They also have local set selling 100 over more.
Had it for a few months now, and almost always on my camera. I thought I could never live without zooms but this lens changed my completely. Only problem with it is... I wished my D300 had ISO50 or 100! impossible to shoot at 1.4 in a bright afternoon without a ND or polarizer which I frequently forget to bring out.

so in your opinion, the sigma is better than the 50mm nikkor cus i see that you have both.

i'm also getting this lens too. find 50mm slightly too long, so it really depends on what you want to shoot

Not a fair fight at all... ;p Different generation of lenses really!
I would hesitate to use the 50 wide open... the lack of contrast is quite bad, and sharpness as well, unless you want the dreamy look... but no such qualms with the 30.
And yes, same thoughts as oneofakind above as well. Another reason why the 30 is much more frequently used for me.

I agree with you. I also just got it few days back to replace my 50mmf1.7 which I sold away as it's too tight indoor for me as I am not staying in a big big house...
Anyway, sharpness is quite good which Tamron is comparable...though Sigma gives a warmer look...
But essentially, people will need this lens primarily for it's wide aperture and "normal" focal length.
