finally someone started this thread...i love this lense...here are some of my photos to share

are these 2 shots having some minor purple fringing ???

I notice there is 2 version of the lens.. one with the manual / auto switch another without the switch.. which is the lastest version?

the one with the switch should be the HSM model (newer version one) as of below:

I'm quite interested in Sigma 30/1.4 and its 24/1.8 macro. I try to buy a second hand 30/1.4 and till now haven't found one...then two weeks ago I bought one from OP, but sadly the lens had a defect...so I had to return it...
Now still thinking of getting this lens...but quite scared of the QC...anyone know which shop let the customers to try several copies? This time will not get from OP as I prefer a local warrenty...

Also does anyone know where can get 24/1.8 macro...?has anyone used this lens before?

Does yours allows full time af override? I think that is the newer version.

Yup.. i half press the shutter it autoforcus.. and while still holding i still can manual forcus to my preference

At 1.4 the DOF is really thin, must definitely be mindful of the subject, secondary subjects just behind point of focus can look pretty fuzzy already. Was wondering if I should spring for this or the ubiquitous 50mm 1.4 or 1.8. Hmm...

you can try john 3.16 pricing wise is a little higher than OP but less than CP.

Hahaha, on a fullframe or crop cameras? Looks like you have proved that zoom is not a must to me. I always thought that zoom is a must. :bsmilie:

you can try john 3.16 pricing wise is a little higher than OP but less than CP.

If you request an eQuote from CP first the price will be significantly cheaper than J3.16...and CP will let you try out multiple lenses if need be.
