EX version suffers BF with 7D.. I've not come across a good remarks so far.. if what the EX version, have to wait for the issue to be resolved.

why only some lens have severe BF problem. does that mean some of the minolta lens also have this problem.

Hiee Pals....

Well.......no doubt glass is still "the" preferred material....but I'm sure with modern manufacturing techniques and materials engineering........there are hybrid lens out there are as good or very close to the glass lens....now as people (consumers) call for lighter equipment......well seem like plastics are the way to go......

I have owned some consumer grade Sigmas and well...i could only say that they do perform to its price.......and with extra care and practice......nobody could tell if your photos are taken with glass or plastic..... :bsmilie:

well, for its price, of course can't really compare with the KM 17-35. half stop slower at wide and 1 stop slower at tele, but you're getting almost 1.5X more in focal length (tele) than the 17-35 at 1/3 its price! ;p
can't complain much to get the cheapest wide zoom.

Yeah.. its a cheap solution to cover 28-75 range (equivanlent).

BTW, someone from TW (not TCW) also got the EX version, but no complain of BF leh..

i ordered this lens 2 months ago, Sigma Malaysia told me it was EOLed....!! well, now they re-confirm with me that order is available due to some confusion cause with Sigma distributor in SG.

my friend who use this lens on canon mount highly recommend me to purchase this lens. The photos he took is sharp, and the bokeh is beautiful even at F3.5

okay lor, then you buy the EX, i buy this one. :sticktong
then i'll wait for the 11-18. :bsmilie:
looks like my wide angle range should cover just nice! :bsmilie:

HIee Drudkh.....

Well as you approach wider angle.....per chnage in the focal length equates to a larger field of view change. Unlike towards the telephoto range where the change gets less.....

Just put two fingers in parallel in front of your eyes.......to simulate framing....
Well move it in towards your eyes.....and you see it gets wider faster than if you have the frame further away (long focal length).....

1mm towards the wide region is BIG!!!!!...the 17-35mm from KM.....is one i would recommend you guys...........after using its and understanding its weakness and strength......well......it could be used to get really great high detail and contrast pics.....

BTW...t

Thanks Sulhan, I know what you're trying to tell me. But that 1mm difference seems too huge.

Desmond, I hope so cos 69.3 multiplies 1.5 gave me 103.95, wider than the 17mm? :o

Hahaha....thats a good one....

I totally missed out on that......in fact by right the difference should be about 3~4 degrees between the two lens at wide i think.....

Okay....games over......you guys know what......
its very common in the lens specs world that they round things off.......
e.g the sigma 70-300.....its not even until 300mm FOV......

So what makes you think 17 vs 16 vs 18 mm "labelled" lens have great...differences....?

Only way to do is to try it out your self......take a shot and see....

Use this as a guide for rectilinear lens - Guide....

Bummer...

I just found out that the DC lenses FOV are based on Sigma's SD DSLRs which has a 1.7X FOV mutiplier. So, that means its even wider on our 7D?

Yeah.. Bro Sulhan is expert in this area.. kekeke.. Manufacturers will round up the focal length to make it looks good. Sigma always being accused of cheating focal length.
