Option 1: return to overseas merchant for replacement set, but gonna cost time and money.
Option 2: send to sigma Singapore for servicing? And expect a bomb!
Option 3: any 3rd party shop can help on this?
Would appreciate any constructive advice. No harsh comments, please. Am already feeling real low now.
Got a response from Sigma US that it is either a firmware upgrade, or a board issue. Now, going to try out the international warranty to see if it works.
just got this lens today for my 60D! would be bringing it out for a walk soon! did a few test shots at the shop and AF seems pretty fast to me.. though the clattering of the parts make me feel that the lens is fragile despite knowing that it is normal..
Where did you get it? Local set? The last time i get a quote ~SGD 1045
local set from a reputable shop in AMK.. think you should know which.. haha... price was ~SGD 1050
Just came back from Sigma. Sent in, recept took in, but said they need to check internally on the warranty coverage. As I did not bring my invoice, I am required to email to them a copy so that they can check that it is indeed from Sigma USA authorised dealers. Once verified, they will honour the international warranty and proceed with servicing. So, they need the warranty card, invoice from authorised dealer, and wait for their call within 1 week.
Does anybody has a copy of the invoice for a Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 from an US authorised dealer?
An update to my Sigma lens issue. Sigma Singapore has honoured the international warranty, and I have got my lens fixed of the af hunting. And I have also requested for calibration, which they agreed no questions asked.
What I found out from the lady was that the lens must be bought from an authorised dealer from whichever country, and the invoice/receipt must be presented. They will then verify. Mine was, so they honoured the international warranty. Simple as that.
The overall experience has been extremely positive. Now, if only they can help get the lens to be sharper at f2.8 than f5.6... Anyone knows how to?![]()
