Thus far, have not seen any evidence or posting that the black 18-55 mm is any different from the silver version.... Thou I have to say it looks really cool and I'm kind of envious that I don't have it... wish I could buy one

BTW, it hasn't been around for long. No one's done a comparison using the NEX-7 with the original 18-55 sold with the first NEX cameras. I had the chance to test the DT 11-18 on the A77 and realized it doesn't give sharp corners and edges on the images on the 24mp sensor well.
The lens just looks black to me, does not look or feel any different physically, but I don't have the original silver one on hand to do a detailed comparison. If there is no difference, then it is a so so lens, not good. That was what turned me off the Nex in the first place after I bought the Nex 5, the mediocre lenses.
Now that they have the Zeiss 24/1.8 and in March the 50/1.8, the E mount actually has some decent lenses. There is also the Tamron zoom. The Tamron 18-200 feels really good as well, solid and metal. It also comes in black or silver for those that like to color coordinate.
For me, I have not had a chance to try out the kit lens since I have been busy with the , Tamron zoom, Zeiss 24/1.8, Leica 24/1.4 Summilux with Voightlander M to E mount adapter in silver (no color coordination for me) and the Sony A mouny 16-50/2.8 with a EA-2 adapter.

By the way, I heard that Sony Singapore is going around giving training for the NEX-7. Typically this is done less than a month before launch. Thus, I think the launch will happen soon. Unless Sony can't produce enough stock which is quite likely considering most countries' Sony Stores are listing the NEX-7 as out of stock...
I never ask for pre-order, but i have been to Orchard Road all the way to Sommerset,Court , Plaza Singapura to City Hall, none have available date (i'm nuts). You can buy from Amazon but shipping not so cheap. =D by the way i never owned a Nex before, this will be my first Nex =-=" the lens come with it~ although not very amazing but still i need to bear with me.. out of budget already haha

There's no need to pre-order. Just leave your name and contact with any of the usual dealers and ask them to call you when stock is in.
During the product life cycle, the lens could have been improved without any noticable or visible signs of changes to it's external appearance. I am quite certain the 18-55 kit lens that were bundled with the 5N had different coatings than those made during the initial NEX launches.
Thus I won't be surprised that in addition to the black exterior, the coatings have been improved in the Nex 7 kit lens. The only way to be certain is to have both and do a comparision shootout.

Warranty conversion is possible? Besides, how can it be possible for Sony Singapore to support warranty on a product which isn't available here?
