Sightings of the new NEX 7

hmm how much would a CCTV lens with adaptor cost?

MSC got many sets, stock came evening, collected mine just now.

hmm how much would a CCTV lens with adaptor cost?

That time I bought it online was 99USD.
The C-mount adaptor was 20USD or 50USD? cant recall.

Try Simlim tower. Ask for CCTV lens, 1" sensor type.
Same exact thing, the price will be lower for CCTV than for NEX (mark-up by photo shops).

I had bought a 30 mm 1.7 cctv lens online, and it has oily blades, build quality isnt excellent . Subsequently, I went to look for around for legacy manual lenses. Those from minolta , Canon FD , Olympus OM. All are fairly decent lens to use on the nex. Especially on Nex7 with its brilliant peaking features.

Is the nex 7 worth the hype? Price not cheap so must think carefully.

hmm dont think there is hype. Alot of reviews on Nex7 done already. Buyers would have considered its pros and cons seriously before diving in.

It is appealing to many because of the NEX flexibility and the inbuilt view finder , packaged into a small bodies with adequate dedicated controls.

All mirrorless cameras arent cheap nowaday. But I agree on the think carefully part, dont buy something for the sake of hype, else you will deprive another true buyer from having one in this limited stock times !

what do you mean worth the hype?
If you were thinking of getting 1 just because of hype or anything along that line.. hmm i would say dont get it.. lol.

How I justify my cost is, take the price, minus off price of other brand models' external electronic viewfinder (~300). So the cam body to me cost about 1.5k. Then decide if the rest of the features is worth the extra cost over other mirrorless bodies.

Lenses are not a factor to me, as I'm on Leica M mount.

I would happily gotten the nex 5n if it had a standard flash hotshoe mount or adapter...

If you compare the Nex-7 with the M8, details wise, the 24MP sensor will be as good if not better than the M8. High ISO is a lot better than the M8 if you process your RAW files properly. You can have dedicated ISO dial and shutter speed dial like the M9. Ev compensation dial is something you have on the Nex-7 that is not on the M9. The only thing different is the EVF on the Nex-7 vs the optical viewfinder on the M8/M9.

If you compare with the Nex-5, the main difference is the 24MP sensor and the amount of details captured by it beats the Nex-5 flat. If you crop your pics a lot then the Nex-7 is good. If not the Nex-5 works better with wide angles m mount lenses. Hotshoe or not, I think it does not matter as most users who shoot with m lenses are used to shoot with available light rather than flash.

Are these OOC jpegs?

Actually I'm wonder whether Sony will drop the price later. Already there are signs out of HK, US and various EU countries of price increases due to the strong Japanese yen. I'm also wondering whether I should pull in my lens purchases

price will definitely drop, but not much from the way Sony controls it.They would make the item obsolete than to sell at even lower price.
it is like now you can buy NEX-5 with lower street price, since Nex 7 is finally readily available.
Nex 7 street price will go lower a bit once NEX-6, NEX-8/9 is out. But at that time you would be asking the same question whether Sony will drop NEX-6, NEX-8/9 price lower. It never ends.

So, if you like it, buy it & enjoy using it for years to come.

got any demo set to play with in any of the Sony Centre?

Control wise what 5n doesn't have as compared to 7. Is 7's control whole lot better?
