Compared to my Sony a77 and 70-400mm, the gx1 with 100-300mm does not allow too much cropping. Noise shows. For feather details, seems to me ISO should be below 800. Sharpness of 100-300mm is really not that of primes or your 100-400mm. Must step down a little to get sharpness, especially if you are not filling the frame. BIF would be tougher. Plus points are the video, portability and af for static shots. When it's fast, it's really fast. But when it hunts, can be quite terrible. Manual focusing on 100-300mm is slow. If there is a prime telephoto then the game would be different. You can see the posts on this page and it shows!

Polar28, thanks for helping to post from my flickr. I was unable to shoot much so far, but will share more very soon with EM1. Btw I have small tuna 150mm F2.0 too, both TC1.4 and TC2.0 other than 300mmF2.8. I can assure those who are worried about "rattlesnaking" with these prime SHG lens (with or without TC) that it should not happen with proper electronic contact points, but I am giving the EM1 setup more rigorous test on possible setting that could cause system lockup. Reason is simple for the battery life is much shorter compared to E-5 (much better after turning off all the non-essentials) and to have the batt in body together with HLD7 batt will be a big pain when it does lock up in the field - you need to remove all batts..... For the image quality and ergonomics EM1 offers, it is very much worth the pain to perfect the setting. Can EM-1 plus FT prime lens give better birding experience and shots - I am very certain.
Least of all, I find Panny Leica FT 25mm F1.4 is impossibly balanced and perfect on EM-1 (blows the new Pro M43 12-40mm)!!! Try the setup on handheld night shot at iso 3200, you will immediately fall in love with the pair..... amazingly good! Sorry for writing too much instead of more photo.... I will post more.

Black-Shouldered Kite - taken with ultimate reach possible on 4/3 Olympus system (300mm F2.8 + 2TC giving 1200mm equi) but on EM-1. Remarkably sharper image even at 30% crop.
Easily one of my fav around here. Wow. The eyes look like gemstones.
