Here are some photos taken with the GF1 recently with the 14-45mm. All are directly out of the camera with no PP at all.

1) The Pyramid in the East, taken at ISO 1250 at F3.5. Shutter Speed is 1/15

2) The Curious Cat, taken at ISO 3200 at F3.5. Shutter Speed is 1/25

3) The Road at Temasek Poly, taken at ISO 400 at F3.5 using Silhouette mode, Shutter Speed is 1/2.

aaron80: the pictures are wonderful and really show the capabilities of the GF1 at high iso. did u put NR to -2? also, what is this silhoutte and dynamic art mode? film modes? i only knw dymanic film mode on my g1.

Thanks bro! I never set NR to -2, I find the pictures quite noisy if you reduce the in-camera NR. The standard NR at 0 is pretty good for controlling noise up to ISO 2000. But I think ISO 3200 is the limit for the GF1. It is really quite noisy when NR is 0 and when I set NR to +2, quite alot of details are lost which can be seen from my picture 2. However if you have to use it as a last resort to take a picture, I think at NR +2, it should be able to make a useable 4R print.

The silhoutte mode is from the GF1 Art mode. It is sort of like the Oly Art Filters but Oly Art Filters are better. The GF1 Art mode just change the stauration, contrast and hue of the pictures. But I guess the effects are still ok if you don't like to waste time doing PP.

Why do the corners seem blurry and stretched? Is this from the lens or post-processing? :think:

thanks for your reply! i've been setting the NR to -2, since i thought that in camera NR might lead to loss of detail that cannot be recovered. i guess i shall have to try NR 0 next time. thanks again!

alamak the cat so blardy cute! macam stuffed toy. haha. is it a british short hair by any chance? the fur coat looks very short and thick.

and the pupils are very WIIDE! the place must have been quite dark?

and 20mm can move in very close to focus. seems like a really short minimum focus distance.

was also wondering on this. seems like his pictures are sharp in the centre, with blurring and stretching at the corners. deliberate?

It's a Shelkirk Rex - though it does have a resemblance to a british shorthair due to its colour, buts its fur its has a curly quality typical to a rex.

Its taken in my room at night and its abit annoyed as I just woke him up to test the 20mm

Yup the 20mm can get quite close though by no means a macro lens. Quite impressed with the noise control at ISO800 because the cat fur will usually render alot of color noise and the 20mm is one mean lens. Think my DSLR is gonna be sitting in the dry cabinet longer nowadays

No prob bro! Think it's better for you to just leave the NR to it's default value of 0. If you set to -2, there isn't really much more details but noise definitely much more. I did the same thing like you with my LX3 last time and all the pictures that came out were extremely noisy.

Nice pic there! Very natural colour, I always dare not use Vibrant mode coz I scared it will be too saturated. But your pic proves otherwise. Did you do any PP? Is MF MD 50mm/F2 the Oly lens?

Thanks. The lens is by Minolta. No PP, straight from the camera. Not very good at PP yet. Still got a lot to learn here. I shoot mostly in Vibrant mode. Find the colours a little dull from the G1 at times if under standard, or maybe it's just me.

Nope...Can't afford that lens.

Just got a cheap Celestron 500 F5 telescope which costs US$199 for my astronomy hobby.

Compared to the 80-200mm

Suffers from a lot of chromatic aberrations which needs to be corrected. This shot was taken of The Petals from my apt near Hillview Circus which is 800m away.

The kit lens is used with a raynox 0.66x wide angle adaptor
