Hi Allan

Saw the converter at Cathay and found that it is not worth the $250.
It's merely a short metal tube with a M43 and Nikon coupling at either end with no electronic contacts nor shaft drive. Therefore, can only use lenses with aperture rings and manual focusing.

Will probably source for some OEM converter from China which is less than $100.....hopefully there is such a thing

Been playing with the GF1 and a M/43 to Nikon F mount and
a Nikkor F8 500 MM Reflex lens.
Shooting in Raw, I am able to recover all the blown highlights when
metering at the suggested exposure.

I have also tested the M/43 adaptors with other lenses and
here are my findings:

Lens: SIGMA F2.8 180 degree FIsheye Nik F mount
Result: Picture badly cropped

lens: Nikon DX 12-24
Result: Usable

Lens: Tamron 90MM Macro
Result: Usable however Lens needs to be 2x furthur away than normal
- Great for skittish insects

Lens: Olympus 1.7 TCON + panasonic Pancake 20mm
result: Works no distortion need 55 -> 42 mm adaptor

Lens: Panasonic Pancake 20 mm with Raynox 250+ 150 Stacked
Result: Allows very close focus - almost touch lens - not too much
magnification though - I just happen to have this.
You need a 46 to 52 step ring to use the Raynox Lens Clamp OR you
could go direct with 46-49 ring

Hi Allan,

Do you find it difficult to manually focus the lenses when it is mounted onto the adapter?
I attached my 80-200 onto the GF1 and without Mega OIS, trying to keep the image steady is really a challenge.

There is no way to enlarge the focusing view....unlike when you mount the original Lumix lenses and set it to manual focus. At least with the Lumix lenses, it enlarges the view to aid in focusing, but for other lenses, it doesn't seem to work.

Like the looks of it when mounted with an older generation AIS lens....looks damn retro.

I think you need to recheck your camera settings... you should be able to zoom into the subject for easy focusing.

On the dial on the back, press the button with 5-squares, then press menu/set. The images enlarges about 7 - 10x.

Without a viewfinder to prop it up, and a grip like the GH1, it is not easy to shoot it handheld. In any case, long lenses usually need a tripod/monopod, IS or not.

Thanks for the tip guys.....Yes, pressing the focusing option button works !!!
It really zooms in closer to aid focusing.

I know I need a tripod when mounting the huge lens.....the problem I'm facing is that the 80-200 does not have any tripod collar.

Mounting the tripod onto the GF1 body with the 80-200 attached will definitely damage the mount. Anyway, mounting the big lens definitely defeats the purpose of getting the M4/3 format.

But, it works pretty well with the 50mm F1.8 attached.
