Not as fast as with the new kit lens, slightly slower than with the 25mm f/1.4 but very, very fast compared to the Four Third 50mm f/2.0 Macro. I find it quite impractical to use manual focus with this or any other macro lens for moving subjects or subjects that could move as there are too many rotations of the focusing barrel to turn compared to a normal lens. If one has a lot of time and patience and is shooting inanimate subjects on a tripod, then maybe manual focusing could be OK.How is the AF speed of the 45/2.8 on the EP3? I'm still in two minds about whether AF for macro is a good idea...
