thought i liked this pic quite alot and will share alittle bit of simple info here

white balanced was set to cloudy to adjust for the warmness that i wanted. flash was gelled with 1/4 cto to retain some skin tone colour and other settings were iso 800, f5, 1/80s.

shot at orchard central with permission hehehe

besides the lighting i did some shadow/highlights adjustments that i found it really really useful. I would suggest trying that tool if you have not done so. Image-adjust-shadow/highlights

the rest can be found at the webby below. just a few to share after a long period of lull lol

Great thread ! I learned something new ! :D

Here is a setup of mine using energy saving bulbs and old flash aluminium reflector for my kind of product shots.

Replacing ambient light with the Elinchrom Quadra.. "A" head bounced off ceiling and "B" head bounced off corner of the room, 50Ws 1/80th f/8.0 ISO 800 triggered via Skyports.

Abit of direct spill on the top of the pic though..

sharing simple setup for food shoot

usually to light from the side or at an angle from the back. i choked up the umbrella alittle close for some shots to create a softer light to simulate window light but not for this shot below which was done with the shoot through umbrella inversed.

I am wondering...

Does anyone want to learn how to do table top photography.

The following are some of my own shots

lovely! dealing with reflections is quite tricky...... have u shot gold coins before and managed to keep the whole coin shiny with no black spots? that was my trickiest shoot ever...

Its possible. Its a matter of what kind of light modifiers you have and where you are placing them.

wow that's sounds good. can add me pls? thanks..:)

Elinchrom Quadra at lowest power (8.2Ws) with 1-stop ND gel into 43" convertible umbrella top left, Canon 430EXII with CTO gel at 1/64th power 105mm zoom behind 2 o'clock position. Quadra triggered via Skyport, 430EXII triggered via ST-E2. (The ST-E2 doesn't seem to sync with the Quadra even with self-learning preflash option on) Had a lightmeter with me so if I remb correctly, key light was set to the background ambient and rim light slightly less than a stop over. 1/160th, f/1.8, ISO 400, 85mm f/1.8 on 5D2.

I am curious. Why you did not use the 2nd strobe for the Elinchrom Quadra?
I believe you can adjust the power of both strobe individually.

Erm, currently I only have the 2.5m cables, so its not long enough to position as the rim in that setup.. You can't adjust each head individually, its fixed at the 2:1 ratio..
