My S2 is finally in Singapore!

By e way, do they charge GST in excess of SGD 400 or the full declared value? I don need to bring invoice down rite?

not quite as exotic as the nikkors...

voigtländer nokton 35mm f/1.2 II

Its here! I was the first to reach the custom to make payment for the parcel. But i didnt dare to open it before my breakfast...and while unpacking the camera, i was praying hard that everything is in good condition!

Its amazing when i see the camera! The condition was alot better than my expectation!(Guess David didnt took very nice digital pics of the camera when he posted for sale..haha) I test and try the camera and it has such a user feel! I always have the perception that Nikon S is not user friendly which explains why the niche market for it. Seems like i was wrong!
The dial for one 1 hand focusing was impressive!
Everything seems to be easy except the shutter dial. So i guess i will be spending the noon to figure out how to select the shutter speed...Other than that, its really a bargain owning them!

Jon! I regretted not picking up that 3.5cm too!

The 2.8cm got me awhile to understand where is the aperture ring..haha

So i guess now im a proud Nikon S owner!! Not a user yet till i finish my first roll of film thru it!:)

Jon do you know what is the Filter size for the 2.8cm?

Very pretty S2! Congrats :)

The filter size of the 2.8cm is 43mm, the same as the 5cm f1.4.

BTW be sure to set the camera and lens to infinity each time you remove and attach a lens. And enjoy!

Thanks Jon, i noticed about this part as well..:)

The S2 is quite easy to set the shutter speeds on.

To set low shutter speeds, set the upper dial to 1/30 then select the shutter speed with the lower dial.

To set high shutter speeds, set the lower dial to 1/30 then lift up and rotate the upper dial to select the shutter speed.

There's three things to remember:

1. The upper dial rotates when you fire the shutter, so keep your fingers away from it when pressing the shutter release or you will affect the shutter speed.

2. You can change the speed setting before or after advancing the film. Either is fine. But its easier to change the setting after advancing the film.

3. At the 1/1000 setting, the upper dial sits a little higher. That's normal ;)

Thanks!!! U just solved all my queries...even the no.3 part on the 1/1000...i was still looking at why it wont sit flat...:)

Okay now its ready for shooting!

Nice set up there, now I am using my 5cm Millenium with a Bessa R2s.

Hi Lokewl,

I would love to take a look at the R2S...heard its sold a limited set and not easy to find one. How does it feels like compared to the Nikon RF?
The flexibility to save on external vf at a cheaper price compared to the SP?

Jon the price seems amazingly good compared to cameraquest! Is this a 2nd hand camera? and the 2nd link comes with a S mount lens?

They're new, not 2nd hand. The second one is the Nikon Historical Society kit with the S-mount Heliar 50mm f3.5 and glossy front plate.

I got mine from Chiif (last piece I think) after shooting on a Nikon S2 for awhile. I like the bright and big viewfinder and the convenient of a build-in meter on the CV.

Jon, this is really tempting..but im running out of ammo now...haha but Definitely going to get one to experience it! Maybe in my coming Japan trip! Hopefully can meet up with you once i confirm my dates and itinerary! Lets go for a drink!
By the way David M is offering me lower price for de 3.5cm..its such a temptation to get it after considering the first 2 lens condition is nice...but such a waste to pay for postage again to buy it.
Think i shld leave the cyber room for now...and go shoot something! Going S mount is definitely poisonous as well!

Bessa is always built to suit a person...the meter, the VF, the frameline!
