Your first shot is a Petrelaea dana dana (Dingy Line Blue)

The second shot is likely an Arhopala centaurus nakula (Centaur Oak Blue ).

Hi james beautiful photos u have, im a newbis mind me asking what type of lens and
setting u use to take the butterfly?


lol james use a tamron 180, canon 40d and 580ex <-- did i get the flash correct?

depending on the lighting situation, we usually like to go about f8 there about to get the whole butterfly in focus. but sometimes in dim light where we are struggling to keep our hands steady at low shutter speeds.. we have no choice but to open up the aperture all the way to f5.6 or lower. iso ranges from 200 - 1600 also depending on the lights.
just go out and shoot! u'll get the hang of it in no time~
