I've been noticing these shoots also.
I have to say that it gives me the impression that Clubsnap is getting pretty slutty and cheap.

So who is against it? Let's put our names here:

1. Sion
2. sORe-EyEz
3. Del_CtrlnoAlt
4. alteredVision
5. Leong23
6. zaren
7. ahbian
8. kirk
9. agentmonkey
10. zac08

12. night86mare

i quote zaren on another thread:

LESS SLEAZE MORE STYLE

on the bright side, when people turn up for shots for reasons other than nurse outfits, d cups and sizzling lingerie, maybe they'll be more interested in the actual portion of photography.. instead of breathing heavily and producing snapshots after a few hours of time. when the photoshoots section of clubsnap starts to resemble the walls of a pornography video shop in europe.. you know something's wrong.

The first list didn't appear to ask permission , at least not in the thread.

at least ask if TS mind anot 1st mah. :sweatsm:

What's the point of shooting a sexy lady? Just cos she looks nice, has nice body? Ultimately what does one achieve by doing so?
second dat. :)
u see lots of ppl flocking to events like SIN or any motor shows with big guns and u know their real intentions.

If we take a look at other overseas photography forum and compair it to CS, we are heading towards the sleaze side when it comes to photoshoots.

unfortunately this is an open forum where we have all kinds of people here
i myself do not shoot this genre of photography

maybe if an organiser were to org a more style than sex workshop/shoot
i am sure that this will differentiate him/her from the competition and he/she should also be able to charge more
since there is a workshop segment where the participants will learn something new instead of shooting blindly at a XMM

in fact, going by the current situation
he/she will have no competition in this niche segment of the market.

basically instead of venting, we should think of solutions instead

the problems, we all know
the answers are what we are looking for

I personally find that its an insult to the ladies and those photographers who truly wants to learn portrait shooting. I am sure there are ladies who doesn't mind it (take it as a job) and shooters who loves it, but hey, please respect this photography haven.

Hi ortega,

Its an open forum like you said, the market works on demand and supply and I am sure there are people who are willing to supply when there is buyer and vice versa, how to find a solution?

I think if this forum works like an Art Museum, I am sure the Museum has the right to reject certain exhibits when the Museum find them inappropriate. The mass cannot do much, so long a small cluster is willing to sign up for these shots, it will go on...:what:

Thats true, I will bring an UWA for cars.:)

The solution is actual a policy-making decision on what to moderate on, the contents and quality, in order to achieve the forum objective and goals. (which i hope is photography improvement or excellence or something like that...)

Sex will always be around like the existence of Geylang but left uncheck.... it will end up under the void-decks of the HDBs...

hmmm.... should i use my macro lens for the D-cup shoot....

to all those who are ranting, i believe this topic has come up time and time again. end of the day, market rules. u want to see an end to these shoots, then stop joining them (if u are) or convince others not to join. personally, imo, u might have a easier time stopping a hurricane.

short of totally banning workshops and shoots (which is not in the interest of everyone in CS), there's very little CS Admin team (Admins + mods) can do.

funny thing is, at one point or the other, most of us start our shooting journey via these shoots....

ah.. that is a good observation

so if the demand dries up, the supply will change by itself?

So..... lets say that suddenly, it became shameful to be seen attending "sleaze instead of style" shoot. then the demand would dry up, no?

and lets say that there was an alternative "style instead of sleaze" shoot that the participants would be proud to be associated with....

a new demand would be created, no?

just as long as the egos are stroked when they post the "sleaze shoot pictures" they will cont. to think that it is good.

is it only the choice of words used or the whole genre of photography that you think needs moderation?

Hmm...I think its a very passive way to manage a forum. Just like the Museum example...or may be Cinema will be easier to associate with. Look at Yang Tse, they choose the path they want, that is the make $ from sleazy movie and they have their reputation. Who would want to go there for a decent show? On the other hand, most other Cinemas are doing well, simply because their management moderated the type of movies they are screening and did not leave the market to drive their business Vision. I am sure if one day Cathay start to screen the same movies as Yang Tse, it will get more sale than Yang Tse, which is old, dirty and smelly. But I doubt Cathay will go that way.

What I am suggesting is a certain level of moderation to keep the image of the forum/models/photographers in check.

But again, if we have to shame people to stop them from going, it may not work as there are people who doesn't care, just look at Geylang.:o

a heavy hand does not work, censorship will only make it more desirable and fun.
but education will change their mindsets forever.

eg. whenever i need to go to the motorshow for work, i don't even take photos of the XMM standing by the cars.

I think Clubsnap mods got to 'on-the-ball' a bit...

I reckon things should be censored whenever is deem to be unfit especially in Singapore, else MDA might come in to intervene.
