Seriously buying D200

I agree with most of the stuff you said except the above. You don't have to pixel peep to see the DR difference. You will not see the extended DR for most scenes but for those scenes that matter, even a 4R print can be clearly seen.

Went to Malacca during CNY, visited a few camera shops to ask about D200, most of them have ready stocks.

The retail price in Malaysia for D200 is RM$6,888 (~ S$3,088), and they are willing to sell to me at RM$5,850 (~ S$2,623), cash term. Heard from some bro in this forum mentioning that KL can get even cheaper (~ S$2,500), which I believe could be true. :sweat:

Notice that there are plenty of stocks in Malaysia, not many people could afford it though overall the price is cheaper than Singapore. Guess their spending powers are not as strong as Singapore.

Sorry I fogot to ask about warranty (Malaysia only? or International) :sweat:

I will be going to Malacca again in Apr, and I will drop in to those shops to ask more details. I'm seriously considering getting one for myself if the warranty is applicaple in Singapore (international warranty)

Bjørn Rørslett is not really a professional reviewer. He does not have enough reviews to make a comparison study but the review was an interesting read.
Ken Rockwell... well, lets say I don't really care for his opinons. He is too much a nikon fanboy, IMHO.
Phil Askey is of course the main guy but he only did a preview right? I am waiting for his review eagerly.

the brochure is on the way to my home.....i email and they called me.......i enquire about the availability of d200.......they say not sure....but they are taking orders still.....
too gd a deal to miss.....i already open a savings/credit/easicredit account and put all the cam money inside my savings...

next week my brochure prob come, so sign and mail, wait 1-2 weeks for approval and probably i estimate get it in march. hope the 18-200mm comes along at around the same time.... all planned perfectly.

This is a mentality kind of thing. If something need to wait for 3yrs compare to something need to wait for 1yr, which one will you buy 1st?:think:

People must be beginning to realise that Nikon makes cameras and Canon makes gadgets. Nevertheless, they still make really good gadgets.

Gadgets tend to change according to trend. I think this is a good strategy Canon is going for. For Canon, nothing is impossible if it makes them profitable.;p
