Dear all,

I am new in this forum and a (proud?) owner of a Konica Minolta 5D.
My question to all of you: Does anybody faced a problem as follows: Switch on the cam - first exposure - screen dark - ERR in viewfinder - nothing can be operated. Only switch off or battery take out will help. I have send the camera already 2x to Sony CC Malaysia. Still no improvement - getting even worse and happened much more frequently. Now cannot be used anymore and I am really angry.
In a same forum like this, but only in Germany, I found out that many of the German users of KM 5D/7D experienced the same. I counted ca. 60 posts regarding this issue.
Refering to them it is a manufacturing fault caused by two things:
- Shutter mechanic problem
- AS (Anti Shake) sensor problem
Shocked I have read all those posts and now I want to consider a return of my cam.

Pls. let me know if you have had the same problem and how have you received help.
Did somebody had the problems with an Sony A100 as well??
Your input will help me a lot.

Looking forward to hear from you.
Regards,
Torsten.

oh boy. yeah. it is often. i think i see like 4-5 times a thread is created because of this problem.

yes, some of us did experience the 1st shoot blank problem, it's annoying, but don't really cause much other trouble except remember to test shoot once before go on shooting (after long time didn't use the 5D).

AS failure, so far I only seen one or twice in this forum, but can be repaired.

i am that "once".:bsmilie:

Keep my finger crossed, I have 7Ds (s for plural, meaning more than 1, not a new DSLR  ) use them pretty heavily... no problem noted after 2 years around 80k shots on each cam. So not an issue with 7Ds.

If under warranty, get them repair until u satisfy.

Unfortunately, nowadays, DSLR is more or less like buying any electronic, sometime u got great unit and sometime you received a lemon.

This is very small problem arise from time to time.

All the best.

Thanks for your input.
But honestly, I am really surprised that nobody seems to be concerned about that issue. Maybe there are not so many users of that cam arround. In Germany this topic becomes more and more serious (plenty of threads in 3 different user forums are reporting very detailed about this problem). They all report the same: Once happend - frequent rises up until total breakdown. In most of the cases the German KM support (now Sony) seems to be willing to issue credit notes (80-100% of the purchase value).
I hope I can get a similiar offer from here ...

Did somebody do the same or heard about it?

Regards.

cos here, it is mainly just the first frame blank, not that the cam is totally not functional or what.

mine sometimes 2 frame, sometimes AF lock liao... sometimes aperture lock...

huh? i thought yours is 7D?

7D also has its problem ma... mine is sometimes cannot autofocus.... need to detach and reattach the lens to detact the focus mechanism:confused:

touch wood, my 7D so far so good. Maxxum some more. ;)

youngest among all, i guess. less than 6 months old only. :bsmilie: less not 2.5k shutter count

:bsmilie: GST increase.. guess no money to go service my camera if my cam got problem....

heard about that but dont think it will increase so fast la. probably 2nd quater of next year. so better send in for service first:bsmilie:

I am experiencing black screen syndrome as well... but it's really intermittent... going on a trip soon so I'm not going to get it serviced until I return... I am experiencing more hangs recently too... shoot already then playback and then try to zoom in before the red light switches off = recipe for hanging... hangs with a Transcend 120X 4GB and of course the Kingston 50X 2GB ... so far it does not show such problems with my Lexar 80X 1GB... feels like my AF is a bit off also... not so accurate and AS like not so effective... I think the camera needs servicing... haiz.. waiting for the replacement...

I got pretty shocked when I saw so many threads and so many people having such a problem. I bought my D5D on 14th April 2006, and till now the only problem is that the Sigma 70-210 lens cannot autofocus. Pals said it was the chipping, and costs about 80 dollars to fix. I haven't have the time only...
I also have friend with D5D, no such problem, hence I really got shock and concerned about this matter... Hope they can be fixed...
