The reason for that is that what you are suggesting is practically impossible to do convincingly. The subjects are always separated because blending one subject into a static background (with the correct lighting and shadows etc.) is much easier if the subjects are not overlapping. It is possible to merge subjects over eachother, but the recreation of shadow information as well as the edges of the subject is extremely difficult. That is why I have tried to think of amusing images where I can "interact" with the other subject without having to have them actually touch.why not get them to really interact? like shaking hands etc ? not interesting enough to me
