no la, should be no link to noise, i think? what i meant is that it should get more dynamic range due to the foveon versus bayer thing? don't really understand the intrinsics of the tech though, but was always interested whether this was really so![]()
The Foveon's advantage is that there's no colour loss and no interpolation needed as per Bayer sensors. As such, the anti-aliasing filter can be eliminated, thus theoretically increasing sharpness and detail level.
The disadvantage is that there's a lot more data to process, so it's either you keep the pixel count small or increase the processing power - which then lead to other problems such as the need for better heat sinking and decreased battery life.
Dynamic range should not be affected in any way i.e. no more, no less.
