the cost are dependent on how you travel and sometimes such budget is impossible without grp travel. i vaguely remember i spent abt 1.6k for flight (1 stop transit istanbul) and abt 1.1k for everything else, for about 15 days (excluding days when we are on flight only). i think for a decent trip with good meals for most of the time, u got to add another 1k or more.

initial plan as above but things changed along the way, which i didn't amend online (too much work and since changes are only for internal circulation for group members). but u can get the rough gist of it. below in S$ unless otherwise stated.
transport (ferry, bus, cab) are typically about 8-40. prices probably comparable to sg though i suspect our long distance bus are slightly cheaper. we took no train.
food is moderately expensive. got to spend usually 10-30 for eatouts. maybe once every two to three days, we have a good meal. a few meals the girls in the grp made it from stuff we bought from supermarket - saves a great deal.
accom i think we are very cautious and did a lot of homework. depending on locations, some places are very ulu and very little online choices (we spend up to 70 per pax for skradin but on the way there are some non english speaking folks who offer very nice rooms at 10-20 over euro). the rest we stay at rooms, apartments and some location due to our group of 5, we manage to get the whole dorm as cheap as abt 10-12 euro per pax while the other locations average at about 25-30 euro per pax. if u travel alone, be prepared that this part of the cost will have to be doubled unless you stay dorms. we did not stay at tents due to our equipments.
i'm not so sure of the demarcation of central and east europe. i suspose central means germany, czech and austria, while those to that is east. the location i travel is southeast europe, only south of bosnia and croatia. euro is the currency to use, although your note is big, and conversion is not favourable for u, it is the backup currency to use. in bosnia, due to ethnic conflicts between the bosniaks and croats, croatian money can be rejected while accepted in different places. we change our money mainly for croatia and keep a smaller sum for bosnia, and used euro for accom and whenever running out of cash. we changed money at dubrovnik and split, both large tourist cities.
culture wise (from an asian tourist view of point), croatia is not that diff from central/western europe, so u might expect SOL and cost to be more expensive. bosnia is more similar to turkey, though turkey itself is not cheap itself by asian (bangkok/bali/china/india) standards.
