There isn't any manual settings for video, but there is something like Smart scene detection.

But you can record video in any mode by pressing the record button.

ok. saw the video from dpreview. the metering change when the overall exposure changed. but i was thinking if i can shoot in manual mode, then can control the sudden change in exposure. the sudden change in exposure doesn't look good when videoing.

Yes it can! but you can here the zoom motor a little bit in the video.

Why you ask this question? who will tell you they hate this cam here ??? hai .. its more towards your understand and personal preference to this cam lah.

Well I don't like the high ISO performance, too much softening of details.
(However I always forget to use flash since the switch is not really obvious at first).

Another thing: Not all functions will work if 1 is selected. For example, EV, Face Detection not available if using SmartRange.

Overall, pretty satisfied with the camera. except for high ISO performance, love the F1.8 lens and IQ. I like its SmartRange and long exposure shots too.

i am hoping for some promo or discount on the camera before i get it. need to get a compact for leisure stuff and holiday snaps. was waiting for the lx5 and wasn't too keen to get it after it was released. never had a good impression of samsung compacts till now. totally disappointed with nikon compacts.

High ISO becomes acceptable in RAW. I guess u have to shoot RAW to get the most out of this camera.

I hate it and I love it............ this camera is like a great but difficult girlfriend

Once you know how to handle her with her little quirks, she will not disappoint

Seriously, when I first bought it.......I started out totally cussing and bitching at this camera (read my early comments on what I like and what I HATE about this camera) ...... but after the initial phase, balancing out the pros and cons, its a great little performer

Guys, good to see lots of EX1 sample photos here... by there way why the macro distance not achieving 1cm distance as shown in Samsung brochure specs? im kind of dissapointing
