My AF light is only activated at low light...doesn't seemed to work very well either...do u know what's the range and whether u can manually on it?

Mine is on all the time, you only notice it when the light is low. It does seem to help when the subject is relatively close to you.

Also did notice that when the subject is more than 3 metres away...it's pretty much useless...

Firmware hack? where do u get that done?? well, warranty is already over...i don't mind getting it done.
the firmware hack is just a firmware loaded on SD card so no problem of warranty etc...
alot has been said abt the firmware before...
just google for CHDK firmware, trust me, you will not regret using it...:)

mind sharing what are the steps u took and what sd card so we can see what's the problem...
IIRC, for the allbest version, there's 2 files, just copy the 2 files to the root of the SD card...
then power on to the review function (not the capture function though it works albeit more troublesome) and select update firmware...

Nice Velasco, btw is the noise/grainy on purpose?

Hello all.. I've had the S3 for 2 years now and have not really taken anything else but family photos :) So recently been bitten by the photo bug (and alot of free time), I thought I give it a try and take some pictures so please bear with me and comments always welcome for me to improve:-

U ve to watch ur focus and composition... In general, ur pics look underexposed. U might also make use of the priority or manual function. S3 has a wider aperture of 3.5 at its tele end if i'm not wrong.

Thanks Fallenphoenix for the comments..you are right, they look a little underexposed. For all the shots, I was using the manual mode and learning the meaning of apertures and F/stops, etc.

I am now off to try some more shots and hopefully of some buildings.

In the meantime...here are some attempts at marco shooting:-

The macro is a little off-focus. U can try bracketing the focus. It's hard to manual focus with EVF, or at least I find it hard to get a sharp focus. 2nd macro is nice....but u might want to crop out the distracting background around the borders to draw more attention to the butterfly. Man on bike is good...moody

Again Fallenphoenix thanks for the tips...I will try cropping the 2 Butterfly. Its been really sunny the past few days and some times it is hard to see if the focus is sharp on the LCD (I find the viewfinder not a very accurate projection of the subject sometimes).

The man on the bike..I was going for the moody/lonely feel and glad that was projected here :)
