OT again :nono: Anyway, even dSLR will not give you great handheld shots all the time. You will still need a tripod for long exposures.

manual focus.. max distance to focus at. at such a distance, e depth of field is rather deep.. so it makes no difference when u use a large aperture for shallow DOF or small ones for deep DOF. best is focus at infinity to ensure all at in focus..
i'm nt too sure how to explain it.. perhaps cerebrus can help? or felixcat888? anyone..

When did I become the expert? :dunno:

Without going into the actual physics, think NightZ88 is talking about hyperfocal distance. Bascily, it is a point where you focus to, so that the depth of field is all the way to infinity behind the subject & almost all the way to the camera infront of the subject. Is that what you mean?

I normally use this to calculate. Set aperture to f4.0 (or whatever you want). Set focus to 2m. I have yet to try this though, might do it later when it stops raining.

SZG..

Might have mis-focused on the tree behind. :(
Due to this problem, I normally take a few pics

Shhh.... cannot let out all my secrets! :bsmilie:

I merged a four exposures. Then did two different types of HDR mergings. I then combined both images & did about of 10min of PP via PS.
