Most documentaries about the veldt show dramatic sunsets, with the sun setting thru the trees like my shot. Its a friend of mine who pointed out the similarity to me.

cool! ok, come to think of it again, usually those scene were captured with more zoomed out. so many ur tree shouldn't be taking up too much space in the picture if u want it to look like those documentaries.

Yup! If I zoom out for this shot though, the waters of the reservoir will be visible.

For the flower, try to get a background that has an even colour. I know its not easy. In your picture, the twigs distract the eye away from the main subject, the flower. Also, the flower seems a bit dull, maybe you can up the exposure just a bit. The flower is a good subject, angle is nice also.

I like the monkey! Crop is a bit tight though.

I am considering the new Canon S3 IS... any feedback?

does it have any form of optical stabilisation like Panasonic's? Or is that important at all?

thanks will take note actually for the flower pic the black bg is actually a cloth .. got very bright sunlight glare between the leaves so i put one cloth behind ...
