[Rumours] - Sony mirrorless E-system

As a consumer, the only reason to buy such systems is becoz they can make it smaller and cheaper than a DSLR.

Unless if Sony can come out with a strong APS-C lens range with constant aperture eg F4 or wider with CZ or G build, I'm not sure if it sells as well as the m4/3 systems.

Sony already have PnS and DSLR market, I don't have a clue from which segment does the E system will come from if it's priced close to the Alpha range.

Those with the A-mount lenses might not be interested as the coming DSLR will incorporate Video.

I don't see why I need one at the moment. I'd rather get a Cybershot HX5 as a pocket camera. I feel those alpha users who bought KM5D/KM7D/A100 onwards are now either using the alpha system or otherwise and are more interested in acquiring quality lenses as oppose to keep buying new bodies.

Price and size are the only factors to go into the E system for me as my A700 will suffice.

Lots of people want DSLR quality without the bulk and hassle.

Technically speaking, the NEX cameras are DSLRs without the 'SLR', and if we use a same lens and sensors to compare, I dare say the quality would the same, if not close to DSLR quality.

Coz, well, a lot of people would glady remove the WYSIWYG optical viewfinders if it means increased convenience. Afterall, the mirror does not do anything to the resulting pics, it simply allows us to frame the shot as accurately as possible.

So yea, almost DLSR pic quality for the masses. Olympus should get an applause for addressing a (I dare say huge) untapped market

The question for S/N/C, how quickly can they bring their EVIL to market?

Not sure about N/C.

Sony's EVIL prototype units are being tested and some reviews are being shown over the Internet. I suspect it won't be long.

Some sites claim the date would be 11 May.

Really ah? Guess there gonna be something interesting coming from Sony soon. :)

Though, me not that crazy of about small camera like this.

Would like to see Sony's attempt. Currently leaning towards getting a NX10.

I hope they just keep it the AF speed fast and interface clean & simple - not overload the LCD viewfinder with unnecessary info and icons.

I'm too not in hurry to purchase a new toy. Holding back on a HX5V purchase and shelving on the idea of the Panasonic GH1 and/or upkeeping 2 different systems until all these new Sony models, NEX and A7XX official announcement.

Will just bring my A700 + rent a videocam for my upcoming holidays in June.

To add, I now require/prefer/need a video capturing tool better than my HP or PSP camera on top of capturing still images. I'm not too bothered about the technicalities of the video eg DOF/Bokeh but am happy if I could carry just ONE equiptment, and a couple of lenses to boot.

Having said that, if THAT tool is the A7XX, I would not want any part of it's still imaging mechanism/capability be crippled to accomodate the video part. I'd then rather get a dedicate video tool.
