Actually I prefer the G1/GH1 type of hold. You should try the smaller cameras with better lenses.. a little imbalanced hold.

Anyway the only reason many people aren't buying m4/3 is because of the super small sensor which results in a large DOF and makes all your normal lenses tele. An APS-C sensor on the other hand will make all the rangefinder lenses behave more like what they're supposed to behave as, ie focal length and DOF.

Because you can't use some lenses with M4/3 due to the mirror. whereas due to the lack of mirror, m4/3 users have basically an adapter for every single mount possible. :bsmilie:

The versatility of being able to mount every single lens out there combined with an APS-C sensor with high noise capabilities as can be seen with sony's recent a500/a550 will be BOOMZ.

Current strategy from the company I've seen so far seems to be pointing at - one body mold, one similar PCB with different parts, but different system configurations and clock rates, and slightly tuned firmwares.

But I've got a gut feeling that Sony would follow the A2xx/3xx - 4xx/5xx model and churn out 2 to 3 E bodies of very similar built but slightly different specs.

Definitely, E mount needs to be fast and usable in Live view - else the penalty would be reduced usability, which wouldn't help sell cameras. :think:

If SONY releases something like the GF1 which has a APS-C sensor and can take Alpha lenses, I'll buy one straightaway... there are many places where I don't wish to carry an A900 but have no other choice cos of the image quality issues and I don't want to buy another APS-C DSLR which isn't really that much smaller than the A900... but the GF-1 size is really really small and that would be great... a good companion lens would be the 16-105mm... brilliant combination for travel... small, light, unobtrusive, with great image quality and sufficient focal range... wow!

Think the japanese analysts/press lately have been terming the DSLRs and mirrorless cameras under the broad category ILC (Interchangeable Lens Cameras) - so maybe they will start using MILC (not to be confused with MILF) to identify the mirrorless ones.

this statement sounds contradictory. can elaborate? M4/3 not same as m4/3?

there is a adapter for many different make of lenses for m4/3 format, so there are lots of lenses available to m4/3 users. the only gripe i have about it is the 2x crop. 4/3 and m4/3 format have been around for quite sometime already, yet the aps-c has not killed off the 4/3 or m4/3 family. in fact there are rumors that fuji is throwing its hat into the m4/3 arena. maybe nikon and canon too. time will tell if these rumors are true.

4/3 and m4/3 format have been around for quite sometime already, yet the aps-c has not killed off the 4/3 or m4/3 family. in fact there are rumors that fuji is throwing its hat into the m4/3 arena. maybe nikon and canon too. time will tell if these rumors are true.

4/3 was never successful - only ever achieving low single digit market share. 4/3 cameras and lenses were not really any smaller or cheaper than aps-c even though they had a smaller sensor. It was a good move by panasonic and olympus to move to m4/3. m4/3 will basically kill off 4/3. I don't think you'll see another 4/3 camera from Panasonic, and I think only one or two more Olympus 4/3 (basically ones that were already designed and nearing production - if they aren't killed off before release).

The Japanese makers pay a lot of attention to their home market and if you look at 2009 sales in Japan - Panasonic is in 3rd place (behind Canon and Nikon) in 2009, with their m4/3 models. One issue I have with m4/3 at the moment is their high price (they get away with it for now since they're the only game in town) - look at the features they provide as compared to entry level DSLRs and it doesn't justify their price (the ep-2 is twice the price of the Pentax Kx !). But with the success of Panasonic, you'll see a lot more competition in the mirrorless interchangeable lens camera market - with Samsung, Sony and Nikon to bring in their models this year - which is good for consumers (Canon is surprisingly quiet, they might end up being last to this market, or they've kept the leaks at bay).
