Beside above mentioned link, there has been series of leaked photos on this new Pentax camera. Based on all those rumors and photos, I'm sure something new is coming from Pentax but I'm not sure about its spec. The rumor has it that it'll have:

1. 35mm 1.3x crop sensor
2. New AF system
3. 5 fps
4. 720p video
5. 1/8000 max shutter speed.

Nice specs, but not a must get.

1. Close to FF is nice, but all I need is a better/brighter screen.
2. Faster AF is always appreciated, but I'm an MF person.
3. May be useful when doing burst hip and concert shots.
4. Video? I'll just use my PnS for that.
5. Erm.. water droplet captures?

What I really need is better dynamic range and an articulated LCD screen.

For me, paramount is the size (small-ish, please, to go with my limiteds), then feature set (erh, anything recent will be lots more advanced than my 2007-era K100D anyway) and finally, price (rather invest in lenses).

Let's see if K7 meets all my expectations. If so, I'm willing to wait for price to settle down from the initial heights, no early adopter here. Else I may pick up the now cheap-ish and solid K20D instead.

Seems like everything > K20D specs, except the sensor.

Of all the above, I most wish for 100% VF to be true, and HD video as least important.

u heng leh.. carry ur own things... i go travel... i need to carry 1 big luggage, 2 big backpacks (my partner carry her own hand bag only)... my shoulder almost break walking the never ending tube tunnel and paris metro... still need to navigate, still need to take care of my partner's needs, still need to listen to repeated words of "where are we", "go where now","which direction","go where and eat","eat what"..etc etc...etc... carry water, maps plus camera equipment... my army life also not so tired... haven include the things we buy...dun talk about shooting... how i wish i just bring a PnS... :(

What does 77 zones light metering means?

technical terms to make it sound more sophisticated hahaha... N got 1005-pixel RGB sensor metering...wats that i also dunno...

as long as its consistent, need not accurate can liao...

Good to have mirror lock up.

1.3 x crop?

faint.
Our version of the Canon EOS 1D Mark III perhaps?

This one very easy to solve... keep one set of gear in England and one in Singapore. :bsmilie:

If true, the 100% viewfinder would be wonderful for close-ups and composing in the viewfinder. Better AF with extra sensitivity at the central AF point when f/2.8 or faster are used would be great, as is the higher frame rate. The mirror lockup is probably the least useful feature to me, though I think a major upgrade of the flash system is long overdue - wish they come up with a transmitter unit on the hotshoe. Nice to have features but the camera silhouette looks damn boxy... like the old SFX film SLR... ugly.

Funny thing calling it K7... like some Indian fellow's name.. Kesavan :bsmilie:
Maybe they are hoping it will be lucky the 7th time round: K100D... K100D Super... K10D... K200D... K20D... K-m... K7

Having been with Pentax all this while, I am keeping my expectation way low. :)
