So have you shoot night scene before? How do you do it? Set it to widest opening and close it down after composed? Or using an optical viewfinder? I hope there is a 18mm one..

Quite a bit of night or sometimes day with 10 stop ND.
In manual mode, by adjusting the speed @ aperture you want you can see the exposure meter bar move, somewhere in the centre right works for me.
If use ND filter, metering may get a little more unreliable. I will focus infinity & expose first with above method @ aperture I want, then multiply with ND filter I want to use. E.g 3 stop / ND8 is 8 x speed required without ND filter. This method works for me so far. Hope this helps.

Oh I see but this is to get correct exposure. My main concern is how do I frame my photo when I can hardly see the image on LCD screen in low light? Especially if I want to shoot street during at night or sometimes with friends at indoor area. I know my lens is not a fast one, I think try it out this weekend to see how it is work. Thanks for advising.

Sanfong, how low light? Like LP said earlier, if it's indoor shots (with not too bad lighting), better than 1s should be fine. You should still be able to see the image you want to compose. Street shots you won't really go > 1s right? You'll not even see the subject or you will get a blur. I was able to compose my shots pretty easily in the evening with the GXR (street shots) .. no problem at all.
LP and my concern was like what you said for landscapes where we are trying to compose for longer exposures, we cannot see what we are composing. In any case, most DSLR you also cannot see very well anyways in that kind of light, and if you slap a 10 stop filter, lagi cannot see anyways.
But I wanted to be able to see a little better of what to frame especially if it gets way too dark, so I did get myself an optical viewfinder (very hard to find), and it's not via a mirror! It's actually meant for my RD1s, a 12D VF. Will stick up some pictures tonight for you to see what it looks like on a GXR.

Hmmm... I did set everything manually.. But i get dark screen from f8 onwards when I tried taking photos in my room with lights turned on.
But I'm relieve when you could compose shot in evening on street. hee..

Ya OVF is not easy to find, I found ebay selling 18mm OVF at $300 plus exculding shipping fee... zzz...

I tried to bump up iso to 3200.. still the same. but it works well under daylight when using Aperture priority mode, the LCD could show all the image... hmm.. if i remember correctly, LV in 5dmkii has no problem to show image...
Hmm ... Maybe we need to start organising Ricoh meet ups, so that we can all exchange information in person.
Anyways, here's the image I promised.
I have DIY a hood that allows me to mount a 52mm Adapter ring straight away with the need of the original 77mm Filter adapter. And the image of the OVF seen on the hotshoe.

Mine is 1.50, both body and module. During update process the software is able to detect the part that has lower ver and upgrade accordingly. Did u follow instruction on ricoh's website? GXR firmware / Digital Cameras | Ricoh Global

Ya I did and tried to re-update but not successful.. dun know if I could update it to 1.44 and re-update once more with the module attached.. Do you think it would work? I read some forums but no solution..

Maybe unlike 28mm module or other module the cpu able to control the aperture. I'm guessing because the cpu will try to maintain image on the lcd it will auto adjust itself despite whatever settings have been set manually until the shutter button is pressed.

Whao.. is that Voigtlander 12mm with Cokin P holder? Could you share how you do it? I like the accessories used in this picture. hee... Btw, why you are using 12mm OVF cos if you are using 12mm it should be 18mm rite?? You own a RF too?
Yes, I owned RF cams. 12 OVF here has a crop-factor of 1.5!
Will share soon how to make this ... ;-)

Gin Ka Gin Chew mah! Check if it'll light-leak. I put the white foam (B+W Filter foam) at the back to minimize/remove it.
And of course, not forgetting that the GXR image is so easy to PP (JPEG somemore). I think I basically just merge in CS4, auto tone, auto contrast, resize, add border and it gets back in LR3 for upload to Flickr.
I also did a little burn on the pumpkin. Otherwise that thing is too bright. Maybe I should have tried to just take 1 exposure of the pumpkin before the long exposure.
