Ricoh GXR! - Season II

Me too ... 21mm for Street up-close would be great. ;-)

Is there a menu to activate that the GW2 is attached and the scale-focus scales are seen on the screen corresponding to a 21mm?

Unlike putting GW-2 onto GH-2, A12 28mm cannot recognise it because there is no connector. It use conventional step up ring. AF should'nt be a problem. SF can be negligible as you also mentioned the deep dof of 21mm.

This method is a cheaper way to get 21mm f2.8 as compare to CZ's. :)

GXR viewfinder VF2's durability - mine is having intermittent malfunction. First the colours turn into patches, similar to certain colours missing, then blanks out. This is the 2nd time it happened in the past week. After removing it, refitted it in about 15 mins later, the image comes back.

Is this a VF problem or a camera body problem, or both?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Haven't encounter this problem, perhaps need to make a trip to service centre. My problem was the VF bent beyond 90deg. That's more user problem really...

Looks like it. Now's to find the time during office hours.

Hi guys, recently my GXR/p10 develop this problem whereby the images look a lot softer and there's halo effect all over. No in-camera filter was used and I've tried factory resetting the camera. The lens element seemed to be clean as well. Any idea what's the cause?

look like fungus to me. this is visible on every shot ?

yup, visible on everyshot. I was using it over the weekends and it was still fine. Lens seem clean to me.

Condensation maybe? Or maybe you're in soft focus mode

As it was raining the last 2 weekends, I was stuck at home. About 15m away from my balcony is a bushy tree with lots of berries. Looking for something to shoot, I pointed a Nikon AF300f4 EDif lens on my GXRM. 4 of them are posted in my member's gallery (sorry, still don't know how to load them into the forum).

3 were taken at iso400 and the pair of wood pigeons were taken at iso 800 at f4. All are heavily cropped.

The GXRM + old 300f4 seems a pretty good pairing. Still very sharp - sez a lot about the GXR.

Just bought a beat up Canon FD400f2.8 that weighs 5.4kg. Will try to shoot some birds again tomorrow. I can feel the M module straining against the GXR body with this lens mounted. Will need to be careful as really pushing the GXRM to its limits.

<Wonglp>: added the images for you. Let me know if it's wrong ones. Lovely shots, so lucky to have such variety to shoot from home!

Thanks wonglp. These are the right ones. I didn't know there were so many types of birds at this tree. And to think that we have tried cutting it down twice but each time it grows again.

The amazing thing is that the GXR can give such good images!! Brings back the fun in photography.
