Ricoh GR

Please share and recommended your Ricoh GR setting, thank you very much!

Anyone can post pics of the filter adapter and hood attaché to the GR? Thinking of buying one to protect the lens..

Want to see a showdown between the Zeiss 21mm 2.8 + D800E vs the Ricoh GR with 21mm converter?

See this post on Clubsnap.

Also, another comparison - this is the bottom right part of the picture (about 30% of the entire picture). Notice how the GR+GW3 sharpness and contrast is just a little worse than the Zeiss 21mm which is prob the best performing 21mm now. All said, i'd sacrifice a little drop in IQ for the pocketability of the GR, though I don't see myself using the GW-3 that much since it's a hassle.

And I think Ricoh is a bloody robber to make us buy the hood and adapter for close to SGD$90 just to use the GW-3 again. They are nothing but two pieces of plastic.

You can download the full pictures here for your comparison. GR + GW3 vs D800E + Zeiss.

kinda like comparing durian and rambutan

I wanted to share my settings but I have customised all buttons and several in-menu settings, i gave up typing it here haha... maybe i should write in my blog.

I usually set the way how i shoot way back from GRD 1 until GRD 3. GRD 4 change my habit because it has different steps to change Snap distance. Then Ricoh revert to the usual way of changing the Snap distance in GR. YES la!!! Sui la!!! The first thing I usually turn off the On/Off lamp then next set fn1 to AF/SNAP. To change Snap distance just hold 'up', scroll front wheel to select distance, release and shoot. Unlike GRD 4 I set Snap distance to fn2 (Self-timer button), step 1 press fn2 step2 press 'up' & 'down' to select distance, step 3 press ok and shoot. More buttons to pressed for GRD 4.

So far i'm pretty happy an excited that i feel like using GRD 3 again with 8 times bigger sensor. Details in the photos are crazy.

Only thing i hope they can improve is the focusing speed. Compare indoor focusing speed with GRD 4 and GR, GRD 4 seems faster... GR reminded my experience with GXR + A12 28mm... look forward to their update hopefully got improve AF speed like what they did for A12 50mm.

After reading those 'poisonous' posts here I quite tempted to get one. However I am not sure if the bokeh & macro mode are good?( sorry for this ignorance question)

Also, where is this camera made in? Thanks.

got mine yesterday.. finally.. the AF seems not as snappy as my GRD4 but not complaining (much).. bought it for snap focus / TAV mode mainly..

now to wait for the colored rings to zhng!

The camera comes w/ a 28mm equivalent wide angle lens, has a minimum focus distance of 10cm in macro mode. It won't be easy to get any bokeh unless the subject is pretty close. If you are looking at super creamy bokeh, better look for something else I guess. But the bokeh isn't bad in macro mode or for close distance subjects.

The camera is made in China.
