Ricoh GR - Acclaim everywhere

I'd say go for the GR is a no-brainer for those GRD users if money isn't an issue :) You won't find another full featured p&s camera w an APSC sensor and is so compact and responsive. I've held the camera for a couple hours now, all I can say is that this camera is gonna be a hot seller, and hopefully a game changer for Ricoh/Pentax.

But of course the price for GR IV right now is just ridiculously low, a great buy over most compact cameras IMO.

Brother Frank, already in your hands? The GR?
How is available light shots ? It's f2.8 , no problem?

may be time to switch to GR, which is not modular system. there should be no issue with sensor cleaning.

Well GXR supposed to be modular system without exposed sensor to prevent dust like interchangeable lens camera, the problem lies when dust creeping in and to clean it the price is shiok.

Yeah, passed down to me from Michael (thanks btw). It's pretty good under low light, but don't expect magics given the slow (F2.8 IS slow in my standard ;)) and small lens. Normally I'd use a lens at F2 or faster for indoor low light non-flash photos, but I guess we have to deal with F2.8 this round :)

It's just whether the f1.9 with IS in grd 4 is comparable in terms of low light photography

anyone know of any shop that allow preorder of gr?

hmm... so are you still going to pick this over the x100?

Japan amazon pre order y$80420, expensive, if includes the Gv1 and wide angle converter 21mm an hood, I would order immediate

The GRD4 is a super nice camera, but it's in the same league with the GR. No contest at all :) The only thing that GRD4 does better than GR is its macro capability. GR beats it in every other aspect, and GR isn't even much bigger or heavier than GRD4.

I'll make the decision after tonight. Used GR the today, really love it. But need to compare both cameras tonight to decide.

hi feng wei, do u know the arrival date of gr here?

How big is the wide angle converter? The gr itself seems pocket able. Seems like this would make the gr a 15mm limited killer.

any sample images? I would like to see its narrow depth of field.. something which you can;t get with the older GRD.

Can the pop up flash be tilted up ward??

actually got a few issues with x100. namely slow manual focusing (i believe the GR doesn't have manual focusing?), the size (GR is pocketable), accessories (GR's wide angle brings it to 21mm, while WCL-x100 brings it only to 28 i think?)

but for the cool factor, x100 gets it though...

I've posted up a preview of the Ricoh GR pre-production camera based on v1.11 firmware. The article focuses on how the Ricoh GR performs as a street photography camera, instead of the technical quality of the images (which isn't accurate on a pre-production unit).

The F-Stops Here - Ricoh GR - Return of the Legend

It's a GReat street camera...

I received some request to see the images in higher resolution, so I've done up a slide show. Click "HD" in the Youtube control and view in "full screen mode" to see the video in high resolution!
