:bsmilie:
Time to go to L!!! Can also use on Hassey.
Not gonna vote, as I prefer a plain unfinished soft release if I need to use one ^_^
but I will give in my two cents worth. In my humble opinion, Those designs with the silver/white/black border or pin strip around the RF.SG, not only it does gives a strong relationship to either captain american's shield or supermart giant Target's logo, but on such a tight space to begin with, it also adds an unnecessary design elements that does not add purposeful meaning or indication to either photography or rangefinder or even singapore. When it comes down to logo or identity, simplicity is one way to go, complexity is the other. Again, simple or not, every design elements should have some purpose, you do not want to complicate a visual identity unnecessary. I really like the simple red dot with the strong and modern Sans-serif typeface in white. Red dot can easily means singapore and leica (the origins of rangefinder?) and white colour, which is actually not a colour, for the type, is does gives a clean and sharp contrast when compares to the red negative background (even though red is a very strong colour ) And overall the presence of red and white not only strengthen the Singapore identity as red/white are the only colours on our national flag, and with the sharp contrast in colours, it also depicts art(photography) as an subjective manner, you either hate it or you love it....
If simplicity is the direction for this identity, then look at logos such as Nike, Xerox, Audi, NASA, Internet Explorer, Apple, Target, Bell, Atari and even the evil Nazi logo, and of course millions more...
Logo is an identity that not only it should communicate visually and instantly without the limits of language, but also gives meaning to the identity. That is a lot to do for a simple logo and definitely not easy. But then one do not has to over complicate it but think simple... which I think the original logo has done everything very well... not entirely original, but very refreshing with the interesting layout of the type and the little white dot![]()
If I come across as being too critical, please forgive me as I mean no harm ^_^ thanks for the efforts![]()
