 I'm in favour of removing it too.

Just to clarify, are you referring to post count instead of thread count?

what is thread count?:dunno:

I do not think removing it will help much since most people here do not place much weightage to it. Perhaps if you really think it's useful we can cap it at say 500

The post count is useful to a certain extent to

a) alert us to new posters and

b) for new posters, they will want to monitor their post counts since they are restricted in some sections and privileges below a certain post count

Maybe is to track/monitor each & every word we said in this forum, you know?:bsmilie: No such things like freedom of speech here either.:bsmilie:
There'll be always someone listening to what we said somewhere.:bsmilie:

Maybe afraid of some terrorist act here too.:bsmilie:

No, I like the post count, cause it tells me who spend alot of time writing here instead of going out to shoot ( unless they just join the forum...))

Boy.. you are so wrong if you think that way.

yes remove the post count, if the information is still needed it should still be in the User CP and not under the avatar.

btw..i noted that there's this user called espn with 22,000 plus thread count:o :o :o

some ppl here who have high post count are also active posters of images
so it would mean that they take lots of photos

i like the post count. imagine, right now, you want to buy Lens X. these 2 users PM you and quote the exactly same price. one has post count 2000, the other has 3. makes life easier for me as i know roughly who might be more safer to buy from.

aren't we talking about THREAD count? or do they mean the same thing??

I feel the post count serves a good purpose... for BnS dealings it helps prevent bid padding etc.

Without a count, anyone can start a new acc. and it would be impossible to tell if the acc is active or otherwise.

The "member since XXX" feature can be overcome... just register early and allow the acc to "mature" like wine.

If people feel "intimidated" by post counts, then by all means cap it like what goering suggests. That way it'd be harder to create clones which look like legit users since a cloner would need to generate like 500+ posts etc.

I don't regard post count as a measure of one's skills or knowledge. Its just a way to tell if the user is legit or a clone. Clone acc.s usually have under 100 posts since the cloner has a "main acc" and "clone acc" to do their dirty work.

I think this thread OT liao. Why moderator never step in?

From thread count talk until post count, OT liao right?
